Remote lock for tailgate??

Remote lock for tailgate??
How hard is it to get the tailgate to have a lock that works in conjunction with the doors? I would love to have it work by remote with my doors.

One of the easiest mods (and most utility if you have a hard cover) you can do! Solenoid/actuators are available from a lot of sources (I think I got mine from JC Whitney) for about $60-$80. The power door lock leads are located under the dash ... I am not absolutely certain (don't remember) but I think open is pink; close is pink/black ... I will check and repost. Quick-splice into the door leads, ... through the same umbilical in the firewall, encase in wire loom and run along the chassis rail with wire ties to the tail gate. I put blade-type plugs in between the truck and the tail gate for easy disconnect in case I should ever wand to remove the gate. The solenoid/lock acctuator bolts right in where the manual lock is (no special modification). All you have to do is take out the screws for the access plate on the gate to put the solenoid in ... real easy!
