Question Bed Covers

I'm looking for a high quality smooth - as in no ridges or spoilers - fiberglass bed cover for my DSG. I like the type that just covers the black plastic bed and tailgate caps. Would prefer not to drill holes.

Can anybody make a reccomendation for brand, source and what expect for chaching$$?

Thanks!

Well, I'm sure that Harley 356 will be around in no time to post his infamous link to this common question. It is a thread that he created a while back that discusses many of the different lids out there with pics(of course!). But, I have to say that the Snuglid or the ******** X2000 will probably be your best choice. The snuglid will probably run you around $700-$900 depending on options. Options such as carpet underneath, hinge system, lighting, etc. The ******* X2000 is usually a bit more expensive, closer to $1000. I personally have a Snuglid and have been very happy with it. Good Luck!

I have the Pace Edwards Electric Roll Away Tonneau. I am very happy with it. It is remote controlled, comes with a light and is very low profile. I have the DSG HD, and it is black, but because of the finish (kind of textured) it still looks good. I don't have any pictures. I could try and get some soon.

The only drawback is the $$$$$. I think I paid just under $1400 including installation. There was no drilling but the place I got it from insisted on installing it.

My favorate part is the ease of getting in and out of it with the remote, and the fact that when it is closed and the tailgate is locked - it is safer than a . . .safe! It is also nice to have the ability to load stuff taller than the rails. Believe it or not, I have already used this fact quite a bit.

For what you describe I think ******* is the best (but I'm biased!). Snuglid is a very close second. The ******* hinge design is the best out there, period. Look what show trucks have in magazines and you will see a LOT of ********. There should be some reasons.

Do you have that REALLY flat one? Seems like 1/2" thick is all. I'm interested in that for my Lightning

Kirkoman, I just got the ******* X2000 cover for my truck. There is no drilling and it looks great. I will try to take pictures when I put it back on.

there's the thread for all the tonneau cover pics. lots of pics so dialup beware, but it will be worth it if you are trying to make a choice between covers

here's a link to the album where the pics were posted from

I saw somebody at F150Online had a cover that was, for description purposes, like a 3/4" piece of plywood that rests on top of the bed rails/sides. Does tha make more sence now?

I was thinking it might look cool to get that and have a upolstry shop cover it in leather to make it look like a soft top.

I'll have to look for it.

so i guess you don't want it to cover the bedrails?
if you find the pic of what you're talking about, post it up
many of the covers in that thread i made are really low profile, but i dont know of any that are just 1/2" thick, thats really thin. I'd say they are about 1" above the bedrail, but the way they cover the plastic bedrails they look like 2-3"
