Painted Logo
I did not sand. I did whipe down with alcohol first to remove any crap on it. I then put a base of rustolem paint. Then for the red I used pottery paint with a high gloss. I used that stuff because it can withstand high temps and shined well.
Looks great! I did mine last summer.
i did the black plate with chrome bumper paint, and masked everything off, then painted the black and red letters on by hand with model paint. no clear coat cuz that melts the bumper paint. i'm sure glad i tested it out on a chair in the basement 1st. i would have been so POed after all that hand painting of the lettters if i cleared it and it all ran and melted. LoL
and you guys know me...pics for just about everything. LoL

after i get all my exterior plastic pieces smoothed and painted to match the truck though (1/2 of them are being worked on now), i'm gonna get all the engine bay plastic pieces done

here's a pic of mine on, and my polished stainless steel Air Force One intake

biggest reason i like the AF1 over the K&N besides the looks is the open end of the filter for a more direct pathway for the air from the fender hole. you can see the open end in this pic

got that too. LoL. Its called wire loom, its got a slit in it that runs the lenght of the loom, so it just slips over the wires and nothing has to be disconnected. the best place to get it is from www.jcwhitney.com They have a kit that is four 10 foot sections of four different sizes. its exactly enough of each size to do the entire engine compartment
I also got some chrome door edge molding from pepboys, and used it on the front and back edge of the radiator cover, the inner fender flanges, the throttle body cover, and the back firewall lip. kinda hard to see in the pic, but its there

Could not find the house in jc's web site. I can get a 100' spool of it from a local autoparts store for $125 but I don't think I would use more than 60' even if I did under the truck, maybe I am wrong though.
How much was the kit you got.

you don't really want to get a roll of the loom though. you'll only get one size, and you'll have a TON of it left over and all the bigger or smaller hoses unloomed
here's a direct link to the jc whitney loom

i'm telling you, this is your best bet. the 40 feet is exactly enough to do the entire engine compartment, and with the 4 different sizes, everything works out perfect cuz you engine hoses adn wires aren't all one size.
can't beat the price either, 15 bucks for 40 feet!

have fun putting it all on. it took me like 4 or 5 days to do it all cuz it gets boring fast, and i love working on my truck. its just tedious trying to get it on all the wires and tubes
i started with the biggest and worked my way down. one word of advice, when you put it on, don't stretch it out, you're better off sticking it on the tubing, and then pushing it back some to compress it, that way when it all relaxes, the most you might have to do is trim the ends a tiny bit. i didn't do that, and sort of pulled along the loom as i went, and the next day when i checked under tehre, it all was contracted about 1/2 " off all the ends of the tubes. not a big deal cuz all i have to do is get some small red zip ties were there is black still showing and restretch the loom a tiny bit and strap it down, but the zip ties are unnecessary if you do it right the 1st time

and i just cut the loom with a sharp set of scissors and it worked fine
post pics when you get it all on!
i'll probably buy another kit from them of just the one size for when i do my underframe neon and loom all the wires for that to better protect them.
