Question Build No.

I am trying to find out my build number and before I start I figured someone here probably knows a easy way to find it.

What is it?

Thanks.

Unfortunately unless you got the plaque from Ford that they sent to the original owners there is no way to find that out. The 2000 being the first HD Ford did not handle this to well. Here in Canada 2000 owners did not get any build numbers even when we got the plaques.

Check either the window sticker or your paperwork you received with the truck. I think it's the last 4 digits of the VIN.

The last 4 digits of the VIN will not get you the build number. As I've heard from many 2000 owners, you are pretty much out of luck without the original plaque.

You might be able to get an approximation if you look at the plate on the inside of the hinge pillar. You should see the month/year it was built on this plate and maybe someone else with a 2000 who knows their number and tell you their build date.

I know this won't get you an exact number but maybe get you in the ballpark.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the replies. I figured it would not be easy. I know it was built in Canada and the month, but that is about it. I am going to track down the original owner and see if he knows.

yup, all 00's were built in canada, just the canadians didn't get the plaques, except for a few who complained enough and got lucky

the vin won't tell ya squat. that is the total # of trucks that came out of the factory, not just the HD's
for instance, my truck # is 0356, but my vin ends in 89886. if you take just the last 4 #'s, ford didn't even make that many 00's. the number i got from the canada plant a while ago was 8197 HD's in 2000.

i replied back to ya in this thread
https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...3&pagenumber=2
but i guess ya didn't see it

good luck finding out the #

Yeah Josh I never got back to that thread. I am trying to find out from the dealer who own the truck before me, but I have not got a call back. Who knows.

Thanks again for the help.
