3/5 drop
3/5 drop
I might end up lowering my truck 3/5 just wonder what goes into this. Is it basically the same as a 2/4 drop. I mean basically springs in the front and hangers and shackles in back or is it a bit more complicated. Does this need a c-notch. I have no L or HD just a regular F150 ext cab.
Does anybody have this type of drop on their truck with 22in rims.
I have 22s and just wondering if 3" drop in front would rub or effect turning.
Sorry 4 dumb ?s
Many have said a 2/4 is better but i'm not sure if thats low enough 4 me
If anybody has any picts of regular F150's with 22's lowered 2/4 or 3/5 please post picts. No picts of HD or L because since from factory they are already lowered don't get good idea of what a 2/4 or 3/5 looks like.
Thanks 4 the

anyway, i'm pretty sure you will be fine with a 3/5 with no rubbing, but not totally sure. and unless you like bottoming out like crazy, you'll definately need a Cnotch out back.
can't help ya much other than that though
well, that depends. do you mean a 2/4 as in a 2/4 kit? or a 2/4 as in a 3/5 kit on the HD?
it can get confusing, so not sure if you know what i mean, or if i'm writing this clearly so it can be understood. LoL
a 3/5 done iwth front spring and rear shackles and hangers only (no changing of rear springs) on a HD would look the same as a regular f150 with a 3/6 kit
this is because you remove the front springs with new ones, so you loose the 1" you had up front from the factory and replace it with a 3" drop. since you aren't replacing the rear springs though, you'll still have the 1" in the springs, plus the 5" kit.
hope i'm typing this clearly.
a 3/5 Kit though on a f150 would have the same stance as a 3/4 kit on a HD. (the HD would get the 3" drop up front from the springs, and the 4" drop out back from the new shackles and hangers, and the additional 1" from the stock springs)
hope this helps some

I agree with HD4MULA, that math sounds right. In actual application who knows. And that is the fram of the truck in relation to the ground. Does a regular F-150 body panels and wheel wells match the HD's, because this would affect the appearence also.
well the HD get its drop from the front springs and the rear leaf springs.
if you put a 2/4 kit on a HD, you will get a 1/4 drop compared to stock on the HD. and that would look really weird cuz the back would be really low and the front up in the air
this is cuz you are replacing the front springs iwth a 2/4 kit, and taking out the 1" drop springs in the HD and replacing them with 2" drop springs, so you've only gained 1" over HDstock
with the rear, you are just adding shackles and hangers which doesn't affect the drop from the leaves, so you will get a 4" net drop compared to the HD stock.
i hope i'm wording this right.
yup, and to get a 2/4 in a HD, you'd need a 3/4 kit. and a 3/4 kit would look like a 3/5 kit on a non HD

A true 2/4 in a Harley plus the 1" from factory in the HD should be a 3/5 for non Harley, yes? That's what I mean.

I have lowered the rear 4in which is 5in on a non HD or L. The front is 2in which is 3in on a non HD or L. Front rides fine but the rear is two low for the ride. Looks good but rides to rough and bottoms out some times. Will raise it back up a inch in the rear so that it has more travel and rides a little softer.
Front is 2in coil spring drop by cutting a coil out of the spring. Not the best way to do it but could not find a 3in coil at the time.

Rear is 2in sport leaf springs and 2in shackles.

Also added camber plates to the front. Replaced the 4 shocks with Blistein. Then changed and added the hotchkis sway bar kit. Dont think it matters for a regular F-150 but needed to add some Lower Link Metco Trac bars. I think it will give you a good idea on how it sits with 22's.

every time i see that pic of your truck that you 1st posted, if i just glance at it, i think you have ghost flames from that oval reflection on the fender. i guess its just something on the wall
maybe a next mod? LoLo yeah, if you say you are bottoming out alot, ever think about a cnotch?
*edit* just noticed.... GREAT SIG DAVE!!!! i'm sure the dialup guys will appreciate it!
The rear springs are actually 3in drop spings for a stock supercrew which makes them 2in leaf springs on the HD. Sorry did not expalin that in the post. Not use to converting from reg screw to a HD. Just noticed the flames on the truck. That is from my bike hanging overhead.

could you do me a favor dave? could you snap a pic of your taillight for me? i saw the one pic you have in your gallery, but i was wondering if you could get me one from during the day when its lighter out. i want to do another thread on taillights like i did for the hoods. Thanks
No Problem. It happens to be raining here in Cal. One of the 3 days a year that the sun is not shinning. Will take one as soon as the sky is a little clearer. Also got the truck back from the stereo shop. Got the entire box redone and the tonnea cover is now power with remote open and close. Also connected a remote lock to the tailgate so that it auto locks when the tail gate opens and closes. Will get some pics soon.
daveenders; I guess your stiff ride in the back may be due to the stiffer lower leafs. If you use shackles and hangers and keep the stock leafs the rear ride should be the same. You are just basically relocating the leaf up. Of course if they are softer they should bottom out a lot easier than your sport leafs.
Oh well.. still your ride look is great.
That's my goal for next year. But I may do a notch or something to avoid the bottom out.

The bottoming out will not be conpletely solved by a c-notch but it will help. Kid I work with dropped his Expi with a 4/6 with Control Arms/Springs/Flip Kit/Notch. He still bottoms out at the Dunkins drive thru speed bumps though.
i have a 3/5 total drop with 285 tires and a full lighting c notch package
no bottoming and a dream to drive
much better handling and road hugging
check my gallery pics.
did full springs,shocks,schackels,hangers,and etc.
great launch setup
min. spinning and nothing like it was before
