Milan Oct14th
Neal the HPfreak will attempt to beak the land speed record (well at least his own record) at Milan in a little over a week.
We'd like to encourage everyone, no matter what model or year of Ford you drive, to come on out and either test and tune, or cheer on the others.
If you want your Truck on our website, you can see me while your there, and I'll hook you up.

I'M COMING
Things finally came together and by that day I will have my new exhaust on too. Changing out the cat. section (2 seperate cats.) to one that is more free flowing and only has one cat. inline. Then going with a Raven Z55 muffler and mendral bent tailpipes ending with nice chrome tips. Just hope that it isn't toooo loud inside the cab, don't want to crank up the stereo anymore than normal. Looking forward to see if I can break the 30 sec. time frame for 1/4 mile with my big blue ladder (truck is 20 ft. long). Who is all coming, list here !!!QUESTION: How much money do you guys usually take, I think Neal said entrance fee was like $20 or something like that? Anything else that you guys usually do while you are there, that I'll need extra cash for? Let me know of anything that I have missed, I will try and catch up to Neal sometime before then and talk to him too. Hopefully he will let me follow him to Milan since I can't get passed him unless the truck is shut off.
Have Fun & Keep on Truckin'

Yep, $20 (20$ for you Canucks
)
and $10 (10$) to watch.
As JMC has learned, 'dump the weight'. Go with around a 1/4 tank of gas ect.
No bottles or alcohol allowed, but you can bring pop, I guess, and if you like that 'hotdog stand' food, then go for it at your own risk. Most of us don't eat while we are there. (trying to keep our weight down?)
We bring jacks for tire changes, a few tools for adjustments, Long pants (required if you are going to test or run), Helmets (required if you run under 14 sec), and a good attitude with a sense of humor (required to hang with me).
Oh, and finally, Do not touch my Truck! (I hate that!)

HI!... Well guys we all had a pretty good day yesterday at MILAN DRAGWAY. It could of been better if the DAM CHEVY's would stop leaking oil and antifreeze all over the track! Well I did it guys! THE "FREAK" ran a 14.72 E.T at 93MPH. That was with the STOCK 30 inch tall tires!!!!!! I put the 27 inch tall tires on and only ran a 14.87 E.T. I spun too much off the line with the smaller tires and they screwed up my shift points BIG TIME! The truck was shifting at 4300 RPM with the smaller tires. I think with a little better traction and some cooler air (was about 75 degrees with a good amount of humidity) I should be able to get the truck to run 14.50 E.T. Then I will have to work on a custom flip chip with MIKE T for my smaller dragstrip tires and torque converter lock up control. By the way my error code "5284" came back up while crossing the U.S - CANADA bridge and was causing a ton of idle problems and throttle surges. Well I'm going to see if with a little bit more MODS if I can get this truck to run 13.99 E.t, NATURALLY ASPERATED!!!! Look at my signiture to see the "STILL TO DO MODS" lol!

Saturday was going to be perfect. The forecast was for 70°+, partially overcast and a very slight possibility of rain. My son had an early hockey practice so I would have plenty of time to be there, wash the truck and meet the Freek and Izzyeddy at McDonalds near the bridge to Detroit. It was down hill from there.
I had to leave hockey early as I forgot my asthma puffers and on the way home I spilled coffee on my clean jeans. A few well placed adjectives mixed in with some choice Catholic nouns and all was well again. Back to hockey to pick up my son then return home to load up the jack and tire tools and we left the house and we went to the car wash to clean the dirt off the truck. We left the car wash at about 5 past 11 and proceeded directly to McDonalds. Well would you know a train, a long, slow, freight train blocked our route. A quick U turn and a change of route and we were on our way again. Well wouldn't you know it the |!"/$%?&8ing train blocked our route again!
Finally at McDonalds we met up with the Freak and Izzy. We got to Milan at about 1:00 PM. The track was open so we unloaded the tools and Neal removed his tail gate. Up to the staging lanes and we glanced at all the interesting cars. Well after 2 hrs of glancing we still had not raced! It went like this. Stage a few cars. STOP! Clean up the oil spill and back to racing.
STOP! Clean up the antifreeze. Back to racing. Yup you guessed it! STOP! Someone went too far on the run on area because of blowing sand on track. Chris shows up and later so does ATST. My son Alex had his bicycle so he meet then at the gate and pointed our where abouts to them. Finally at about 3:00 PM we can test and tune. As luck would have it I ended up staging next to Izzi. Well good luck and God bless but this is war and you are going down!
I drove around the water and so did he. After all who needs to heat up radials on a 5000lbs truck. I pre-stage Izzi does We stage. Yellow, Yellow, Yellow, Go, Green. Spinn in first, See Ya Izzi, Shift into second, spin some more, Bye Bye Izzi! Shift into ??????????
Where is 3rd? Ah! There it is! The race is over. Izzi 17.781 @ 77.32 mph - JMC 18.084 @ 80.93mph. Iceing on the cake- I red light with a .065 reaction time... More Catholic words! Back to the pits. Now there is talk of canceling Test and Tune. I heard my self say that I would run over the ticket booth if they did. I am not leaving here with an 18 second ¼ mile! Finally about 2 hrs later more test and tune. That's better. I know what I did wrong, I didn't push the stick over far enough to fit into the 3rd gear gate. Cost 2 seconds.
Back to the lights. Green! Go! Spin shift into second, spin. I'm picking up speed now, here comes 3rd shift, don't blow it! Into 3rd it goes just a slick as sliding cooked bacon out of the pan. Bog! What? 5th Gear! You fool you put the |!"/456789ing thing into 5th! Ok, don't panic, put in 3rd. There, that's better. So the final result was 17.357 @ 80.62 mph. Lesson learned; 1- 2-5-3 works better than 1-2- buckle my shoe, pick my nose- 3rd.
And I beat Izzi's time by over ½ second. I am feeling better now but I can't leave till I get into the 16s.
My next 2 slips were 16.759 @ 81.94 and 16.765 @ 81.79 mph. My last run was with Neal's ittsi bittsi 29 inch tires. 17.263 @ 79.95 mph. When we returned to the pits and I removed Neal's tires I understood that God still loved me. There were chunks of rubber missing from the tire's treads. So after I got my head together here is what it boils down to:the tires were no up to par. Too much spin not enough go! Well at least Neal got what he wanted and Izzi had fun. Besides he can boast that he beat a 16 second truck!
Oh, all wasn't a wash I got to chat with Chris and ATST in the pits. She tried to hitch a ride in Neal's box but the track Officials would not let her! I got to use my winch! A guy with a mustang and an F-150 XLT SC 4x4 broke a spindle so I pulled his car up on to his trailer for him.

Mike T,
Who are you trying to kid. First thing out of his mouth after showing the 14 second slip was: "I changed my mind, I want more".
Now he is going to tinker all winter to try and get 13's. What is next Ported & polished heads? Cams? Better tires? I can't wait to see what he tries next!

Okay JMC, if you say I beat you that is fine, BUT from my visual advantage, you were still ahead of me by atleast 5 or 6 truck lengths and still pulling away. I noticed that my truck was pretty much hitting the rev. limiter before shifting into 2nd and then I wasn't shifting into 3rd till close to 300 ft. before the finish line. So much for using the power section of 3rd gear.
Not sure what to change to fix that but I don't think that there will be anymore modifications for this truck. I could do everything that Neal has done to his and will just break the stock h.p. of the 5.4L. Not much sense for this truck, but maybe when I win some big bucks, I can do like Neal wants to do and drop a V10 into the truck and then start to play from there. I should be able to beat JMC legitimately (?-sp) then and maybe even Neal providing he keeps his current truck WITHOUT the Kenne Bell.
But back to reality, I had a great time and enjoyed meeting Chris and ATST. I also would like to thank AGAIN, JMC and Neal for all the prepping to make sure that I didn't look too bad when I got up to the starting line. Now the big question is, WHEN IS THE NEXT TIME WE CAN GO AGAIN !!!!! Might try manually shifting to see if I can get the truck to shift earlier into 2nd, but who knows.
Here is the list of my reaction times, E.T.'s and 1/4 MPH for the 6 runs. Now remember this is little over 5000 lb. truck, with a stock 302 other than K&N FIPK, replaced 2 cat. section to single cat. and then cat-back raven exhaust. Maybe making around 225-230 H.P.
1st Run: Reaction - 0.888
Against 1/4 E.T. - 17.781 - Best
JMC 1/4 MPH - 77.32 - Best
2nd Run: Reaction - 0.747 - Best
Against 1/4 E.T. - 17.925
Charger 1/4 MPH - 77.07
3rd Run: Reaction - 0.947
Against 1/4 E.T. - 17.878
Corvette 1/4 MPH - 76.66
4th Run: Reaction - 0.803
Against 1/4 E.T. - 17.882
Dragster 1/4 MPH - 76.52
5th Run: Reaction - 0.876
Against 1/4 E.T. - 17.804
Neal 1/4 MPH - 77.30
6th Run: Reaction - 1.016
Against 1/4 E.T. - 18.006
E. Talon 1/4 MPH - 76.15
- Deep Staged this one bad.

Have Fun & Keep on Truckin'
