May have a problem.

My 2002 xlt is making a hissing sound. I think the air conditioner is leaking on to something hot. When i turn the ac off it stops. Any suggestions? Should i take it to my dealer?

I would look under the hood first, see if condensation from the system is dripping or running down something onto an exhaust manifold. It may be simple, it may not, but the more you know when you do take it in the better.

You didn't mention whether the A/C is working properly, I assume that it is. If it is leaking refrigerant, that's a different story. With the hood open and the A/C on Max with the fan on high, you should see the A/C compressor clutch dis-engage occasionally. If not, it could be low on refrigerant due to leakage...

The AC is working great. You know how water drains out after you shut off the truck. This is hitting something and very hot which causes it to make a hissing noise. Is this bad.

May be the drain plug is partially clogged and it is running down something to the exhaust manifold....
