GMC & Chevy the same?

Is a Chevy truck the same thing as a GMC truck?
Kinda like the Ford Taurus and Merc Sable?
Many years ago, I had a Sable LS, and my wife had a Taurus, but the Sable seemed to be better quality.

Which one is the better truck?

Thanks!

Yes they are the same. Same frame, drivetrains, just different packages and options.

Most all of the auto manufacturers in the world and, even more specifically, in the United States use this method to move more vehicles.

As you mentioned, the Ford Tarus and the Merc Sable are the same vehicle and, again as mentioned, they just come with different bells and whistles.

When everything is seperated down to the drivetrain, frame, and 9 times out of 10, the tires, you'll find that it's the same vehicle.

Even when you start getting into Lexus and Acura. Look closely. The main 'cars' that they produce are coming off the same lines as their Japanese flagship cars (i.e. Honda Accord and Toyota Camary). Again, they're basically the same vehicle with more leather, more bells, and several more whistles.

Looking back to the late sixties to mid seventies, GM cars were all the same chassis. Cutlass, Chevelle, LeMans, etc...etc... Outer body, and engine and interior were the only real differences The Firebird was a Camaro, and still is today I believe. As for Ford, the Mustang was built from a Falcon, which became the Maverick, then the Granada. The Fox Chassis was VERY similar to the old Falcon/Stang. Even the bolt circle on the wheels is interchangeable. Nothing new under the sun, ain't that the truth, LOL!,,,,,98

It's amazing how they can feel SO different, just by repackaging them

The same other than some skin and trim. The GMC's are usually more money, but the Chevy's hold their value better.

I think it's a good thing. The new Chevy is fugly, where the GMC looks pretty good.

the GMC offered more options at no charge than the Chevys...everything else was basically the same.

IMO a GMC usually has a better sort of a more upscale look.

My uncle bought a new chevy a couple of years ago. When he compared identical chevys and gmcs, he said the gmc badge cost something like $80 more.

Ranger and Mazda

Rangers and Mazdas in 1994 were the same. I don't know about now. In 1994 the Ranger was even using a Mazda engine.

Ford builds the Mazda trucks for Mazda, and then slaps a few different badges/sheetmetal on 'em. I had a 1994 Ranger before my current truck, and it's engine was 100% Ford. The transmission however...

The old Dodge Aries and Plymouth Reliant were the same car, just different badges...in fact, back in the days of REALLY crappy quality, some of them came off the line with Aries badges on one side of the car and Reliant badges on the other.
