Reading Cowlady's post I just remembered this article in the newspaper 2 weeks ago.

Some people in the US have a doll on the passengers seat to prevent carjacking,right?

Now, this smart guy from Holland thought, if this is working for a car why wouldn't this work for a house.
So he bought a doll like that and put it on the couch when he was away, probably leaving the lights on too.
He bought the doll to prevent burglary, so he said maybe he had other intensions with it.

I think the guy hadn't been home for some time and his neighbours got worried and noticed a "stiff" on the couch.
They thought the person sitting there was deceased while it didn't move at all.
They couldn't get in the house and contacted the police.
Well they couldn't get in either and broke in to find out that it was only a doll sitting there.

Any Ford truckers here with a doll on the passengerseat?

No serious, have you ever seen car owners having these dolls.

Ummm - no, but I have 2 large stuffed cow dolls - maybe I should put them in the truck?
Actually - I'd like to put a sign on the truck saying "Beware - guard tarantula's inside" but knowing the dummies around here, they'd WANT to see it & would break in for that reason! If I weren't afraid of spiders I WOULD keep a tarantula in the truck!

 

Didn't know people were using dolls in cars because of carjackings, though I knew it would be used to have enough in the vehicle for the HOV lanes (or so they said )

 

I have heard of them being used for HOV lanes too.
For those that don't know, a HOV lane is an extra (fast) lane on the freeway to encourage car pooling (and thus twart polution, so they say) and to use it, you must have 2 (sometimes 3 or more) or more passangers in the vehicle or you could be ticketed.
Anyway, that's funny.
I usually leave the TV on. I call it my "ghetto" alarm system. But I think my dogs would be more of a deterent than the TV being on.

I bought a life sized articulated skeleton while on vacation. His name is Irving. I put some clothes and a hat on him. Currently he is lounging comfortably in my office. After Holloween, he's going to be spending more time in the truck since it will be getting dark earlier.
