WTH was in this cheby

Man, tonight I raced a cheby 1500 from a stoplight with the highlander and by the top of 2nd gear he was about a truck length ahead of me. grrrr... I didn't hear him powerbraking or anything... he stomped on it from green and went.

We went again from about a 40mph roll and he jumped right ahead and kept pulling.

Anyone know any cheap mods for a highlander?

Unless you were driving an L some of the engine/trans setups from the bowtie boys can hurt you.

If the 1500 had the small vortec V8 he had 300hp and 360ft/lb. If he had the big block vortec V8 he had 340hp and 455ft/lb. If he popped for the 6 speed ZF transmission he probably could have run an L (for a bit).

I have to give them grudging credit , 340 hp and 455ft/lb with no supercharger leaves to door open for someone who wants to do some mods.

Wait a sec... The small V8 doesnt have 300 horses (the 5.3 only has 285.) Not to mention they don't put the bigblock in the 1500... I'm not denying they can getup and go, but I don't think too many of the L guys are gettin beat by 1500's (6 speed or not!)

Right off the CHEVROLET website, just repeating their propaganda regarding the configurations available in the 1500.

hmmm. I just know that dude was fast!

The Highlander is 3600 pounds w/ 220hp and 220 tq. First time I lost to something with it. Of course, most of the stuff I race w/ it are ricers

That 1500 would have blown away my F-150.

A friend has a 1500 and a big secret. I'm one of the few who know's it's got a blower. The truck's a real sleeper.

You could have been blown away by a sleeper.

I had a similar experience following a friend up to a lake in his new Chevy Tahao... I don't know what engine he had... ok he really wasn't my friend....just some guy a girl I was with knew... but that thing kicked the crap out of my F150 5.4 4X4.... I don't really like to drive it too hard and I have the feeling he was redlining just about every shift.... he seemed like that kind of guy... but I have heard some specs on chevys and I gotta tip my hat to them... they seem to have won the horsepower race for now.... I just switched over from driving Toyotas for years though so I am still in 'horsepower euphoria'... those yotas are DOGS!!! I can't believe how long I put up with that!! just my $.02

The 6.0 is a small block and has 300 HP and 340 TQ but it is only available in the 1500 HD ( and the 2500 and 3500 ) which is a crew cab. Its also available in the Sierra Denali. The one that Intel raced was probably a 4.8 or a 5.3...still very quick.

That was my point... And the 'small vortec V8' (4.8) obviously doesn't have 300 hp! If the website says it does, there liein!

Ford V.s. Chevy

My truck F-150 5.4 Litre 4X4 cannot beat my wifes Suburban 1500 5.3 Litre. The Acceleration Response between My Truck and The suburban is asstonishing. The Suburban will get up and go a lot faster than the F-150.

The 2001 Suburban ans 4.10 gears and I am not sure yet what I have in my Ford for gears.
