Unhappy Death of a F150

It is with a heavy heart that I bring the sad news of the demise of my '99 F150 SuperCab 'company car'. Nope, she (Betty Ford) didn't die a natural death, she was killed when a fellow employee that had been allowed to use her for a trip to a job site while I remain 'chained' to my desk today and his truck was in the shop, ran a red traffic light and was broad sided by a 18 wheeler. Betty had been a very reliable and energetic contributor to my work days and she was always ready to roll.
Betty had acumulated over 198,000 vertially troble free miles of service and is survived by me, my wife and daughter . . . oh yea, the 18 wheel driver is ok as well with the blockhead who is suffering only minor bumps, bruises and what should be a termination of employement (3 crashes in last 18 months!!!) except that he is the owners son!

From what I am told she gave her all in protecting her driver but she is now in several large and very many small pieces. They say the inital impact was to the passanger side front fender witch spun her around for a second hit by the trailer axles to the rear which almost totally removed the back of the of the truck (axle, bed, you name it, without guestion, she's gone)

They took her to a wrecking yard somewher in South Hill, VA and I sent a guy to get Mark and collected all my 'personal effects' and get some PICs of both the scene and what remains of Betty.

Oh well, I guess I need to line up a ride home from the office tonight while I wait to see what I'll be driving for work now, hopefully not a hand-me-down.

Goes to show ya. F-150s never die. They get murdered!

Pray they don't put you into a Dodge or a Chevy. You'll never live down the shame.

That is truely a sad story. The previous generation F150's were great looking trucks.
It's always the ones that we like that die an unnatural death. If we don't like them they will run, like crap, forever.
Hope they put you in something nice.

In my grief I must have hit a 6 that should have been a 9, I never could type good, Betty was born in Aug 1999, I 'edited' my post to fix that error.

Thanks for the support guys, I miss her already.

I can only imagine that it must be that bad but know that it can't be, how could anyone have ever survived anything close to that kind of wreckage?

The guys made it back late last evening, but with no PICs. The dang lazy sobs say they 'forgot' that I wanted them untill they were half way back and they didn't want to have to turn around because it was already getting late. They both said that there is no question that it's a total loss though

It looks like I'll have to get down there my self and see it. If nothing else I might be able to 'salvage' a couple tires for winter duty on my Expy.

I am trying hard to find a silver lining here but I also am now driving my bosses POS rodge ham

Do I need to seek employement elsewhere if they don't give me another Ford? I was imbarassed today when a couple of us went to lunch. I seen a hot girl in a lifted F250 SD pull along side in traffic, she looked over and smiling, rolled down her window and said 'Real men drive Fords!' It turned out to be the 'girl friend' of one of the guys I was with, a setup, what a couple ******!!!

How much you wanna bet that Dodge is your company truck from now on and your boss will buy himself a new truck? Probably get himself an F250 SuperDuty Powerstroke 4x4 Lariat.

Wow Dennis, the block is not even cold yet & you suggest the unthinkable. Show a little sensitivity for the grieving F150 owner will ya !!

Maybe you can appeal to the boss and get to pick out your new ride, hmmmmmmm.

Good luck Petrol.

I hope I'm not going to be stuck with this underpowered, butt ugly dodge for much longer. Got word from the insurance co that they scraped her. I knew they would with the high mileage and all, but we'll see what they put me in now.

Did I tell you guys how weak the 5.2 'magnum' is, pathitic. I bet a 4.2 V-6 4WD with 3.31 gears and 35" tires could toast this thing. It 'looks' to be in good shape but when I 1st drove it I stopped to see if something was bouncing around the bed, sounds like a tin bucket half full of bolts being drop kicked down a flight of stairs, and the steering feels like the wheel could come off in my hands at any time, not to mention it has a very bad tendency to wander all over, make you feel like your driving while drunk. I can't believe people like these things.

And THERE it sits, I could see it from here if I pull back the curtain, in front of my house. Well, you didn't expect me to save a space in the driveway for it did you? maybe someone will take it if I leave the keys in it

No leaving the keys in it , is like putting sign on it Saying "I'm a POS, don't steal me if you wanna live". At least hide the key like under the sun visor or lock the doors and leave the slider (if equipped) open.
