heck of a couple of weeks...fairly long
heck of a couple of weeks...fairly long
Just thought I'd share my last couple of weeks with you fine folks.
My wife of almost 8 years, has been sick more this year than normal..she is a strapping young lady of 29 and looks perfectly heathly if not a bit overweight (she doesn't read this board hehe)
she goes to my Dr after some billing issue with her Dr and he sends her for a sonogram (sp?) the tech checks her kidney on a whim and finds something odd...a spot that shouldn't be there. so she has a CT scanwithin a couple days and that confirms there is something there that shouldn't be. most likely culprit is cancer....the best solution is remove the kidney...again she is 29 very much a shock to me and our friends and family.
The next week or so is spent being very loving with each other, going shopping and spending time with friends and family. this serves as a goos distraction to keep from acknoweldging the big bad scary word (cancer).
So she had her kidney removed Thursday and is doing very well...much better than I ever suspected she would. Tonight I walked with her through the halls of the hospitial. I had my appendix removed many years ago and didn't get around as well, as quickly as she is and I have a high tolerance for pain. She is still amazing me. At this point I am exausted but glad I still have my baby.
I have very much a new outlook on life and thank God that we found this when we did. I could have been much worse. As it is now she is expected to make a full recover just won't be dancing anytime soon....which is good for me as I don't dance....but I may take it up cause she likes to...
it really sucks having to be away from her while she is in the hospitial but it is the best for us so I can care for our Bassett hounds ( we don't trust them with our friends as one of them was abbused as a pup by kids and our friends have kids. I spend all day seeing her but it is not enough right now. I'm sure many of you will pray for us and I thank in advance for it.
Thanks for reading,
Stan

You really need to thank your doctor for finding it so quickly. The only viable treatment for kidney cancer is surgery. Chemo therapy in ineffective. Radiation is too dangerous because the intestines can't tolerate it. So, the best cure is surgery and it sounds like they got to your wife early enough.
Isn't it amazing how quickly they get patients up on their feet these days?
Glad things are going well. It won't be long before she's home and back to normal.

Thanks guys
for the support...
We are going to find the person that did the sonogram and give her a big thank you.
It did come back as cancer but that is exactly what was expected so no surprise there. The only thing we really do now is have her checked out on a regular basis to see if anything comes back.
She should be getting home tomorrow which is very good. She is walking around very well and is not in that much pain.
Thanks again
