Altec Lansing computer speakers!
I just bought a better set of computer speakers finally! These things rock
I picked up a set of Altec Lansing 221's. The set is two satellites and a deceptively small subwoofer. I could feel the bass in the kitchen cabinet doors ten feet away
They're not the most expensive either, at $49.95. I put in a dvd, and I almost jumped when a bass note hit
They sell them at Staples office supply and supposedly Fry's electronics as well. Just thought I'd mention them in case someone is looking for a decent set of computer speakers on a budget.,,,,98

I agree. For the money, I don't know that they can be beat. I just picked up the 251s and the difference is amazing. I had one of the racing games in, and J thought that someone was racing up and down the street.
Four satellites would be nice, but I just can't do it traveling like we do. Maybe when I go home for good. These are amazing enough to make me very happy with the purchase as it is, though. The only thing that could possibly bother me about it is not being able to adjust the bass level, but Itunes has an EQ so no real problem at all.,,,,98

looks nice. They are amazing to hear after having the listening to the little speakers in the note book. I've just got 2 of the JBL platinum series spekers, Sometimes I forget and have the volume turned all the way up, and when someone log's onto AIM or Messenger, scares the fashizies out of you. This summer while at home, I hooked mine up to the Yamaha reciver and Paradign speakers, sounded real nice.
I've always been in love with Monsoon speakers. Even the lower models can be had for 50 dollars and, in my opinion, sound better than any I've ever owned. I'm not a fan of 5.1 speakers at all. The wiring is ridiculous and ends up running all over the room. I think the least amount of speakers that produce the most sound is the way to go.

Right now I'm using Altec Lansing ACS340. Not sure if their still sold or what but they sound dang good. Two 3" Magnetically Shielded full ranges with One 6.5'' Long Throw sub.

On a different sound related subject...what do you guys think of sound cards? I always had Soundblaster Platinum 5.1, etc, etc. But my latest motherboard (ASUS A7V) I bought with onboard audio. I was blown away when I heard the sound it produces. Much better than any soundblaster card I've ever owned. I think sound cards are a thing of the past, especially since they cost so much. I know I'll never buy one again. Any opinions on this? If you have a sound card, I suggest trying out a newer motherboard. Onboard audio is worlds different then it used to be.
