RPTV owners - beware of station logos!!
This is probably old news, but the networks seem to be getting worse about it.
Anyway...................I've had a Mitsu 60" TV for about 5 years now and just noticed that I'm starting to get the TechTV logo burned into the screen. It's VERY faint, only noticable when you REALLY get up to the screen and look for it, but it still chaps my hide.
Yes, I was this close to the screen on purpose - I was checking specifically for burn-in. Honestly, I was checking for burn-in caused by TNN and their insanely stupid banner and graciously bright logo.
I did a quick web search and these logos seem to be causing more and more problems with RPTV's. I have already contacted TechTV (for what good it will do) and *strongly* advised them to tone down their logo. The only other recourse is to stop watching the channel, but I pay my satellite TV fee every month to get these channels, and I shouldn't have to continue to pay for channels I can't watch for fear of equipment damage.
My brightness and contrast were all set at 50%, so I brought them both down as much as possible to darken the overall screen image. Hopefully this will prevent further burn-in.
Sorry for the long post and rant, but these networks know good and well there are thousands of RPTV users and bright, static images ARE NOT good for the tubes.
Still steaming in NC..................

I'll have to check out a friend's RPTV since I only have an NRPTV (Non-RPTV
). I'm sure he'll freak when I tell him what I'm looking for.
