whats your dream car?
Back in 1968 at the ripe old age of 13, I was cruising the aisles at my mom's library and found a book of classic cars. One car in particular stood out and I knew that's what I wanted and I would buy one as soon as I could afford it. Well, if I had the money I have now back then, I'd be the owner of a Deusenberg SJ.
While it's not the car of my dreams, I wouldn't mind having the car I had in high school. A 1970 Cougar XR7. White with black interior, black pinstripes, and black vinyl top. 351C 4V. Auto. A/C. Power Disc Brakes. Power windows. Power steering. AM/FM radio. Cost a little over $4k.
My best friend's mother had a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado that I wouldn't mind having. My mom used to drop me off at their house on Saturdays and she'd drive me home in the afternoon. I thought I was riding in a space ship! I was fascinated with the flat floor, the big gas pedal and the speedometer that had the numbers on a horizontally mounted drum that turned. Oh, it was also the first air conditioned car I ever rode in.
I wouldn't mind having a WWII Jeep. My father had one for many years and I learned to drive it sitting on his lap. I'd probably have a heck of a time fitting behind the wheel now.
Other than the Deusenberg, the rest of the cars are not exactly collectors' items or very valuable, but have a lot of sentimental value to me.
I'm actually satisfied and happy driving my SuperCrew.

I just saw a 66 Toronado yesterday! It was in perfect shape, new paint etc...
One thing I remember from one of my older brothers' car magazines from when I was a kid, was a review of the Toronado. The one sentence that stands out in my mind was this. "Cruises comfortably at 100mph."

Hate to do this on Ford board
After I sold my Blazer in 1991 I told myself I would never own another GM. I have kept that pledge, but I think I found a loophole. If I puchased a GM manufactured before 1970 it would not be the same would it.
in my opinion the best looking car ever produced is the 1969 427 triple black Corvette Convertible. You have to slightly mod it to get it to it's full potential. Wow... what a car...

As for me, Id be happy if I had AC and Power windows in my truck hehe... But I guess a silver L on 22s would be damn nice...
SVT_KY, yeah, the Pierce Arrow is also another million dollar plus classic. Sigh... I'm guessing the one you saw was the limited production model they built somewhere around 1933? If it was, then you saw one of the most valuable Pierce Arrows ever built. It was totally hand-built. It's hard for me to imagine anything like that being built today.
Another classic I wouldn't mind having would be a coffin nosed Cord. Hmmm... Toronado and Cord. Must be the front wheel drives and futuristic styling that I find attractive.
98, I haven't seen a '66 Toronado in years. The one review I remember, the writer talked about driving it up a snowy hill and it never got stuck. I vaguely remember him writing about the reactions of the people who watched him do it. Funny how you remember certain things from years and years ago.

Oh yeah, nothing finer than sitting on top of a gas tank!
Yes, the gas tank was under the driver's seat. Don't forget the fact that it didn't have any doors, roll over protection, or seatbelts! Imagine trying to build something like that today.
I remember my dad teaching my sister how to drive the Jeep. I was sitting in the back with the family boxer. After her second or third attempt at getting the Jeep moving from a stop, both the dog and I jumped out of the Jeep and refused to get back in. Man, was she p.o'd at me about that one...
