Re-finance with warrenty???
I have a 2001 F-150 with 24,000 mi. I owe 3 yrs. and 2 mo. on it. I love it and think I'd rather keep it than trade as I have 5 times in the past.
I was considering getting it re-financed at hopefully a lower rate and picking up a Ford ESP warrenty. I would probably only keep it till around 60,000 mi., and I'm mainly concerned with the engine / transmission (5-speed). What do you guys think I should do? How much should I expect to pay on warrenty and what intrest rate? Right now I'm at Ford's 8.9%.
I'd probably re-fince at 4 years...not sure.
Thanks guys!!!

Jackel,
I'm not sure about the refi, but I do know you probably can't get a Ford ESP Extended Warranty cheaper anywhere than you can get it from Gene Louder at White Motor Company in Stanton, Texas.....1-800-953-3321 Genuine Ford........I don't know him other than talking to him on the phone a few times.....you call and he'll give you direct quotes...no bull.......I'm still tossing it back and forth but i think i will get one....i figure if my moon roof breaks once...at $1000.00 that more than pays for it......here are the rates from AAA...I'm not sure if they are the same in your area...i don't know where you are.

My credit union is offering refinancing on vehicles at 5.9%. In fact, they are throwing in a $100.00 rebate and a free car wash. I suspect that financial institutions in your area may be offering similar rates. As for extended warranties, the Ford dealership never mentioned the extended warranty program to me. I dislike my dealer so much that I probably would not have purchased one. I bought one from Warranty Direct. I hope I never need it but I am glad I have it.
If you are only concerned about the engine/tranny ESP is way too expensive, look aftermarket, they cover fewer parts, but are considerably cheaper, your Dealer probably sells the aftermarket too, make sure the Dealer will honor the aftermarket if you do not get it from the Dealer.
I think that one failure of an internal electrical switch, sensor, etc and you will find that you are concerned about more than just the engine/tranny (expensive).
Good Luck

I just bought an extended warranty for my 1998 4wd Expedition (29,000 miles but out of factory warranty) bumper to bumper for 7 more years or 100K for about $1570-a great price.
The lack of hidden loopholes and delivery where others tend to fail or get shady on when asked directly drove me to these guys (talked Ford and Dodge trucks on a personal level for about 20 minutes). They also have something called "an enthusiast discount" for vehicles where word of mouth sells.
I've learned so much about extended warranties-which can seem more like insurance companies than original factory warranties. Research it, and don't necessarily go by price...$300 extra over a 7 year 100K warranty looks great until the !@#$ doesn't pay or won't cover you...

There really little difference, it is an insurance policy. That would be why the aftermarket warranty companies have names like "CommonWealth Dealers Life Insurance Company". They also sell life and gap insurance for your vehicles, just like Ford Credit does.
