Angry Rear-ended a lifted F-150 yesterday

Well the story starts out like this..."It wasnt my fault". lol...ok
I wasnt driving my truck (i sold it), and i wasnt driving my jeep(which im trying to sell to get another 150 cause i was stupid for selling the other one in the first place). I was driving my moms lexus. I was just crusing along and was approaching a stoplight with about two or three cars ahead of me. I was following the car in front of me at ample distance, BUT not enough room for a f150 to squeeze in. he was behind me, and tried to pass me on the right. then realizing the right hand lane was a right turn only, he just cut right in front of me, and then slammed on his brakes (because of his accelerated speed to pass me, and the stopped cars in front of him). I had about .5 seconds to respond, and her car just didnt stop in time. his trailer hitch went through the front part of the hood/grill, and bent the radiator at a nice angle, and the car now squeaks when turned. d'oh. since neither of us had been in any kind of accident, i didnt know to call the police to file a report, just exchanged numbers, insurance, etc. found out i sould've called the cops. oh well, just mad, at him and that i have to cough up 500 bucks to pay the deductible. and mom was going to go with me THAT day to help me pick out a new screw (cosign)...well that went out the window. looks like im stuck with the jeep a little longer.....sheesh. sorry about the long post, had to vent.

oh, and my insurance is now almost going to double (even though i have a perfect driving record, no tickets, warnings, ANYTHING....but i am a 19/m. that part sucks when it comes to insurance)

If I was you, I wouldve stuck my foot so far up his *** he could lick the dog***** off my boot. Man that sucks, Im sorry he screwed you over like that. Thats what makes me mad about insurance. The idiot was clearly at fault, but you get stuck with a deductible and higher rates? BS. Good luck sorting things out bro

Exact same thing happened to me a while back...but I rear ended a S-10 and I was in my old baja bug with a fiberglass front-end...not a prety sight....anyways...I called the police and they took a report and gave me a copy of it, well on the copy it shows the other persons info, like full name and address....haha just what I needed! My bug was realy loud...no cat no muffler so you could hear me mile away and no other cars sounded like me, so i would drive by this guys house all the time atleast 10 times sometimes I would just sit there reving my engine and I could see him look out his window every now and then, I did this for 4 days straight...then on the 5th day out of the blue I get a call from my insurance and he admitted it was his fault and everything when they contacted him to get his side of the story so his insurance payed the deductable and my insurance never went up
I never got around to repaint the hood before I sold it.
Straight pipe!

actually a police report could not be benificial at all in that case. at least in my state I beleive the person behind always gets a failure to stop in ample time ticket, not sure on that, but thats what i've been told by many people.

I think it might be like that hear. You get the ticket though but you can always fight it in court.

There's obviously always circumstances that will get around the "Failure to stop" BS. First off - the guy cut him off - did you guys have any whitnesses?

Always get a police report!!!!! sonds to me that by him cutting you off he was the one that actually CAUSED the accident.....would always help to have witnesses that saw him do it and be will ing to repeat to the cop.

no witness

i was driving alone. unfortunatley, he had a passenger, young like him, maybe his brother. that makes it even worse. their word against mine. this really sucks. here in texas it is almost always your fault if you hit them from behind. if i had someone with me, actually had a police report, i might have a fighting chance. but i dont. c'est la vie. anyway, the jeep i have is a 2002 wrangler x. heres the link to my gallery.

Thats a very nice looking jeep. I say keep it. I wish that I had kept my 1991 but it was in need of a new engine. I could of thrown in a 302 or something. As much as I love F150s, Jeeps will always be more fun to drive and cruise in.
