Octane boosters? Higher octane gas?

Hi there,

I know this issue has been beat to death but I thought I would ask anyway.

Has anyone done a direct comparison of highway driving with 87/ 89/ 93 octane gas to see if it really does help to improve fuel mileage? I have a 2001 Supercrew 4x4 and am not impressed with the fuel mileage, not sure what I expected though.

Has anyone found any octane boosters that work either?

Thanks,
Wes

I think the recomendation from Ford is 87 octain!

Higher will NOT help - just cost you more money.

What you have - is what you will get.

A few "mods" would help, but then you will just drive faster and negate all you have done.

These are NOT economy trucks.

sorry

I used to fill up with 87 octane until my engien started sounding rough and idling horribly. Now I use 91 or 93. Be careful, its not healthy for an engine to swich from 87-89-91-93. The computer has to adjust. It takes like 3 fillups. At least thats what I have been told.
