i want to get the new f150 4x4 super cab but i don't know if i should get Ford's Fx4 upgrade or i should go to a 3rd party company for some extra 4x4 mods (like suspensions)

 

When I was looking for a 2002, I wanted a Supercab 4X4 w/ 5.4 Liter. The only ones available at the time around here were either FX4 or XL Fleet trucks. I was not interested in that package in the beginning. After looking around a while, I started thinking that the FX4 was a nice starter with some OK parts bolted on and it only adds a few hundred to list. I just went in and negotiated (3 weeks worth) until the final cost of the vehicle made the FX4 add-ons a gimme.
I have seen them on the road and have grown to like the look of the wheels and even though the shocks may be Rancho clad OEMs, they look good from behind and perform good enough for me. I have taken the truck out on logging trails, in Houston traffic as well as on long highway stints though down pours and it handles and feels great. The only thing that I would have done different, is make the dealer swap the OEM Wrangler RTSs for at least ATXs. Within the first month I was at Discount Tires getting BFG All-Terrains put on.

If you like a truck and the price is right, get it and enjoy it
