Yes there is a good chance that someone has bad credit info on me as I have a very common first, middle, and last name. As a matter of fact there's another person with the same name in my county and a person with the same name as my dad living within 1/2 a mile of us.
Is there anyplace I can get all 3 reports for one price?
Thanks for your help.
KYFordFreak,

There are places that offer 3 bureau reports. I have used these in the past and was not completely satisfied. Some of them where incomplete and if there are items you want to dispute you have to go to each bureau anyway.
Go to the 3 links listed in the second post here. It is pretty easy to do and each one will let you get your reports online.

Good luck,

Rocks

KY, sorry I hadn't checked this thread. it looks like most of your questions have been answered already so one thing I have to add, unless someone said it, is if you are changing banks try your best to go with a credit union. I hate dealing with large banks and got set up with a CU years ago. I walk in and actually have seen the people helping before. CUs have that small bank feel that is for most people at least a good thing, without the small bank rates..CUs are normally much better on rates for everything since they are basically owned by the people that have money there.

although as for the one agency for all three report thing...myfico.com is the for lack of a better term the "official agency" of the credit industry. I got my score and it provided my report. I'm sorry I can't say if it was a combo of all 3 or just 1 or what but I didn't have any problems on my report (after years of fighting for better credit I have made it) as they are the people that come up with the number that is your "score" that most ALL credit issuers use before issuing credit I found them useful.
Also for all things money related or consumer related check out http://clarkhoward.com/ very good guru in the Atlanta area also national talk show host and author. Lots of great info to help you make the most of what you have or want to have.

Hope this helps
Stan

ROUSHFAN-1, if you haven't already gotten reports from the 3 credit reporting houses, check out www.truecredit.com. For $35, you'll get one report from all 3. It's quite nice actually, as they show side by side by side how each one reports for a specific account.

01sport, are you sure about after being denied you can get a free report from all three, or just the one(s) that were used to verify my credit? I only ask as I was just denied and the letter I received only mentioned the one they used (Trans Union). Whichever way it is, I couldn't wait and got mine online.

Chainsaw13, you are correct. You get a free copy of the report that was the basis of the denial.

I found this on Experian's site.

"Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, you may be entitled to receive a free copy of your personal credit report if you have been declined credit, employment or housing in the last 60 days, or if adverse action has been taken against you in the last 60 days, based on information from Experian."

That is about the cost of the reports from the 3 places. One is 11, the otehr is 12.95, and I think 10 or 11. It might total 36.00.

Another way to get them from all 3 for free, is to call the 800 number and report a idenitity fraud. They will put a credit block on your account for 90 days, and suppliy you with a free credit report.

I did this to stop the credit card "pre-approved" junk mail. They can run a check on your account if it is a debitor that is listed, but they cannot do a credit check, for requesting credit, without calling youa t home, and getting your approval.
This can screw you over if you plan on getting a loan in the next 3 months.
