Wiring help.

This is a section of instuctions for my alarm. I need to wire this so that when I press the aux button on my remote, it will supply 12V to a wire. So all I do is connect the aux wire from the alarm to #86, a fused 12V to #85, another fused 12V to #30, and then #87 will continuosly supply 12V when it gets the signal from the aux wire(when i press the button) then it will stop supplying power when it gets another signal from the aux wire(i push the button again)?????????????????
is that right? where can i get these relays? radio shack?

The Aux wire is supplying a ground...correct...... you can use the same 12V to activate the relay and power your AUX....85 and 30 wired together........when you hold the AUX button down on your remote for 3 seconds it will send a pulse that will activate the relay this will connect 30 and 87......no need to press it again to stop it, it will only hold for 3 or 6 seconds depending on how you program the alarm brain. Tap into your power wire on your trunk solenoid, don't cut it and put the relay between or your primary trunk release from your dash will not work. This is my take on it from installing 8 or 9 remote starters and alarms. I am not a professional.........yet...

I think what you are asking for is called a mechanical latching relay. The first pulse will latch the relay contacts and they will go over center and stay latched. The second pulse will pull the relay contacts back to the open state.
Hope that helps. Latching relays come in mechanical and electrical varieties.
Bosch and Omron are two brands that come to mind but I've seen lots of different brands and types, I just don't recall the names.

Latching relays typically require a second, discrete, signal to reset them. The device you describe (need) is a "Momentary to toggle" type relay (module).
As the name indicates it "converts" a momentary function (your alarm's aux. output pulse) to a toggle function (cont. On - Off). These are not available at Radio Shack.

I've never purchased any so you're on you own to find them.
Note that the contacts are only rated for 2A @ 24V (~3A @ 12V).
Keep that in mind since you "dont know what yet" (you're going to power).

You can get the Square D relays in 12V DC, at the supply house.
They come all different ways, and even have ones with a timmer **** on the top that once activated will run for the amount of time.
I ahev used the FPD12V51 to power thing that you want to turn one thing off, and another thing on when activated.
This is a DPDT, with both normally open and normally closed contacts on it, rather then the standard Auto N/O type.
These are the 8501 Class relay, and you can order the plug in base that has terminal screws.

But as I was reading through some of the descriptions I got the impression that to "latch" the relay, you need to send a pulse to one coil, then to "unlatch" the relay, you need to send a pulse to a different coil. I dont want to have to use my 2nd and 3rd button just to turn on and off whatever it is that I decide to use. I want to be able to use the same button(same wire) to turn whatever on and off.

It is easy to wire DPDT relays to latch on (such as the Square-D mentioned), but it requires a second output and SPDT relay to reset remotely.
You need a "module". This tells people trying to help you that what you want contains the relay and the other components needed for proper operation in one package.
Not to "split hairs" with you but it would confuse someone trying to help you.
These appear to be used in security systems, etc. and will require some effort to find, but they are available.
And besides, you have time... Right?

J15Big, Visonic.com is a security device company, you should be able to purchase these kinds of products through ADI (https://www.adilink.com/index.htm), their engineering/sales branch is in FL and do have stores in CA. If I understand what you want (it seems simple enough) is to latch for one pulse, then unlatch with the second pulse. The module XceLenT Driver has posted (good post) will do exactly what you want, with one exception.
You will need to supply the latch or pulse without voltage, requiring a separate relay (SPST – Single Pole Single Throw) be installed before the Visonic module (momentary to toggle (bi-stable) switching converter).
The way I picture this working, you send a 12vdc pulse from your alarm, to the coil of the SPST relay, this would momentarily change the state of the relay upon activation.
IE normally open to a closed state. Sending a dry contact (no voltage) closure to the Visonic module (like a key switch).
Wiring – Attach a 2-conductor wire from the alarm module to the coil of the SPST relay. Attach a 2-conductor wire, from the SPST relay to the Visonic modules key input. These conductors would run from the SPST relays Com (Common) on one side of the relay (lets say black wire), and the NO (normally open) on the other side of the relay (lets say red wire), which will toggle the Visonic module on and off without voltage. You should be able to purchase this 12vdc SPST relay through Radio Shack or ADI they are common. Good luck…

Great observation.
I did assume the aux. output was driven with an internal realy (like mine) as opposed to a digital output [transistor, etc.].
Yep, gotta have "dry contacts" somewhere.

The one I pointed you at was the JCK one shot timmer relays.
Sorry I mis-read that, and pointed you the wrong way, for an all in one device.
What you want could be built out of 2 or more relays, but if you have an all in one as stated above, you should be good to go.
Sorry about that, slight case of keyboard atinuation, with a CRC error between the montior and keyboard operator.
J15Big, here is a second option for your setup.
The Altronix RBR1224 will use your 12vdc signal to act as the trigger, eliminating the SPST relay and making it just one device, these I know are sold at ADI.
Here is the Altronix relay page (http://www.altronix.com/p_html/relay.htm). There is a PDF for the relay.
You will need one constant 12vdc source for the module power and this power can be bridged to drive what ever you are powering.
Wiring – A 2 conductor from your alarm module to the Altronix module. A 2 conductor from a constant 12vdc source to the Altronix module. A 1 conductor from the POS+ at the Altronix to the relay side of the Altronix C (common). A 2 conductor from the Altronix module to what ever you are powering.
The two conductor from your alarm module runs to the TRIGGER+ and TRIGGER- of the RBR1224.
The two conductor from a constant 12vdc source (like cig lighter) runs to the POS+ and NEG- of the RBR1224.
The one conductor will bridge from the POS+ to the C (common) connector on top of the relay, this will supply the positive leg of the 12vdc power.
The two conductor from the RBR1224 to your device will tie into the NEG- (black wire) and the NC (normally closed) (red wire) at the top of the RBR1224, supplying the power to your device when momentarily triggered, and remove it when triggered again.
Note: You can run a remote led from the RBR1224 by connecting the negative side of the led to LED, and the positive side of the led to POS+. You can also tie in a second device if wanted (DPDT).
