Question Need parts help!!!

I have a small ding in my front chrome bumper. I would like to replace this part but am not sure of the part number and the best place to go? Looking at the front of my truck the bumper looks like it has 3 pieces. 2 black plastic pieces on the top and bottom and then the chrome piece in between the two. The chrome is the only problem. Just a small ding that is annoying for me to look at.

Since my father does not work for Ford anymore my discount is no longer in effect.

HELP

You'll find what you need on eBay if you can wait awhile. I've seen them many times.

You may be able to find one at a junk yard as well. You could buy a competitive part too, but the chrome is not nearly as fine.

I'll double check tomorrow at work, but if memory serves the number is XL3Z-17757-AA (or preferably, XL3Z-17757-AACP)

The price dropped recently when it became available as a "crash part" (volume priced to wholesaling dealers) so be sure to ask for the number with the CP at the end, and not all dealerships will have it available - and they CAN'T order just one.

...the bumper looks like it has 3 pieces. 2 black plastic pieces on the top and bottom and then the chrome piece in between the two.
You ARE aware that the chrome you're seeing is the visable portion of the actual bumper bar, right? Is this ding worth taking the whole thing off, disassembling it, risking damage to the plastic parts, reassemble, reinstall, & aligning it?

LOL.. I just checked at fordpartsonline using the part #'s. Their info:

XL3Z-17757-AA List:$310 Selling price: $302.25
XL3Z-17757-AACP List:$310 Selling price: $201.50

Same exact part, different package!!
...BTW, any local dealer with a large parts dept. should be able to match that price...

Well.... its a small ding in the chrome bumper section. It's not bad but it sure looks horrible to me. As soon as I wash and wax her and look at the front of the truck all I see is that ding.

Is it really that hard of a project? Have you done it before? I was thinking that it won't be that big of a deal to do.

And the above part is brand "new" right? Just listed cheaper for repair shop purposes? Thanks!

I would learn to live with it.

Unless the ding is the size of a 1# coffee can, that is alot of work just to remove a ding in the bumper, from what I can tell, is the size of a quarter.

If you like to take stuff apart that much, then this is the job for you.

BTW Get the p/n handy for the plastic pieces....you might need them <g>

Yep, I've "been there, done that". I'd rank it as a medium skill level job. Depends on your experience.
Study it first & decide for yourself. Lay down under your front bumper & look up at where it mounts to the frame. 4 bolts on each frame rail to the brackets. Then look at where the brackets attach to the bumper, where the valence attaches, etc. All of that's gotta come off. Preferably w/o damaging anything, or allowing the ends of the bumper to scratch the fenders... You'll definately need a helper.

BTW, I'm not trying to scare you out of doing it, just thought you should know what you're getting into

And yes, that's a new Ford part.

I think I will tackle it. I have taken the front end apart and replaced it on my previous mustang, so I think I can take this bumper. Thanks for all the help. I will keep you posted.
