Infiniti G35
I stopped by and drove the new Infiniti G35. This is one nice vehicle for the money. I have a BMW 328I and it will give the new 330I a run for the money. Just not sure if Infiniti's quality is up to the BMW's. If you get a chance drive one it will run for a midsize luxury car.
All I know is that Nissan (Infiniti's parent company) has some major quality issues right now........and first year models are historically crappy with Nissan (i.e. hte new Maxima, Sentra, and Altima)
I'd wait for the 2-door version if I were you.........it'll have 20 more ponies, and looks badass..........plus 6-speed with the RWD.....I don't believe the sedan has a 6-speed, but I may be mistaken
good luck either way

I just have to reply.......I work for the Infiniti/Nissan dealership here in Tulsa (yes we have both of them here in the same dealership) and I have to tell you, that is one awesome looking car. The 2-door is supposed to look like the new Z-car. We have already sold all of those allocated for our dealership, and have some ordered for the following year model. I am the Warranty Administrator, and I process all of the claims and I would have one of these (Infiniti's) in a hearbeat (if I could afford them). The quality difference between the Nissan and Infiniti is minor. I can honestly say that the most processed claims I have been having are recalls lately.
Yeah, the 2-door is the Nissan Skyline. Supposedly, the GT-R will be over to the US for 2004. (it, too will be an Infinity, and also an $80k+ car...)
The only thing I'D worry about is the fact that it's not only a new model for the US, but the motor is all new, in both US and Japan.
Not saying that Nissan is any worse than any other car company - I wouldn't trust ANY company in the first year with a new drivetrain....

Was told by rep tht 2dr G35
IS the Infiniti version of 350Z. This was at Atlanta auto show. The 3.5L engine is not new. Been used in Maxima for 2 (?) years, plus Pathfinder has a version of it. Fit & finsih, plus interior trim much better with Infiniti.

That is correct - the G35 coupe is going to be produced on the 350Z platform - the main difference in the two is that the 350Z is going to be a 2-seater only and the G35 will be a 2 + 2. 6-speed will be available; however the automatic has the select shift option, so why worry with a clutch?? Base price starts at $30K - dressed out for under $40K. However, rumor is that the 2-door will be a limited-production model, so I am sure there is going to be some dealer markup.

I admit to being somewhat biased being a current Infinity owner who is in the market for a new model (I 'm leaning toward either a new G35 or the up coming M45, wait till you all get a look at this bmw 540i fighter)
Not to mention that lexas i300 has a back seat that only a 7 year old could sit in.

BTW, yes I am an Infinity owner, I am currently on my third model and am egarly awaiting the new M45.
Just wait till you see this one
slotted between the Q45 and G35 it WILL be a vehical to give the BMW 540i a run for the money, and yes it will have a cost advantage as well.
Infiniti does have lots to be excited about, as well as all of Nissan period.........great engines, and stunning looks on their upcoming vehicles.
The IS300 should not even be mentioned in this category......It has become a pimp ride for ricers, and I see more of these with body kits, fart pipes and nasty-a$$ chrome 20's than normal looking ones.......I feel bad for the professional adults in their 30's and 40's buying these. I mean yeah, they are nice cars and all, but definitely not in the same category as the G35, or even the Acura TL-S for that matter...........even with the new available 5-speed. It doesn't look as good, perform as well, or have as many luxury features, and as someone else said, roominess resembles that of a Civic.
