Here in Texas we kill more criminals then any other state per year. Now the media has a problem with a guy that was put to death because they say he was 17 at the time of the crime. He was accused of murder for a carjacking and auto theft. I beleive that if you kill, you should be killed. Also what is your take on child murderers? We had a case here not long ago that 2 kids killed there brother and buried him by a creek. I'm getting sick of the media and hug a tree people (no flame intended) that say the death penalty is wrong. What do you think we did to people a few hundred years ago? People are so wraped up with "you are violating my rights" that they don't really see whats going on, but then again my brother-in-law who owns his own practice says now a days the crook has more rights then the victim!!!!!

 

Whoa this topic may get little to harsh for this board.

IMO I think they wait to long to carry it out. If you kill someone you should be killed, of course there are exceptions. But murder in cold blood, serial killers, even those crazies that shoot up places and don't kill themselves should be offed pretty quick. Also I think they should expand the death penalty to inlude beheadings, stonings, mafia type executions, and real people as crash test dummies.

On a side note I would like to see more severe punishments for other things. Such as public beatings for car thieves, forehead branding for spousal abuse, cops reserve the right to discharge fire arms into the tires of people who weave in traffic (after pulling them over), (if possible) serious rubber neckers force to help with accident clean up.

 

I think the punishment should fit the crime. In some other coutries along time ago if you were caught stealing they cut your hand off, rape well you know.....That's the way it should be...

It only has to happen once and every serial rapist will think twice about doing that again....

 

I don't believe that we as a society should resort to draconian measures of cutting a hand off, and those types of actions.
That just seems wrong, and we as a society are much more compassionate.

However.....

If we catch someone "red-handed" of murder, where there is no question as to the guilt of the person,
Then cart him off to the city gravel pit, and shoot that person like a rabid dog.

Swift & immediate.

The same treatment for people caught red handed of:
* raping women
* molesting children
* breaking into our private home so they can steal our possessions.

If there is any doubt, and not 100% clear, then we hold a fair trial, and consider those people innocent, until a court can prove their guilt.

... then we cart them off to the gravel pit.

I don't think it's a matter of an "eye for an eye", people just want to live their lives in peace.

Remember, punishment does'nt change behaviour, it only surpresses it.

I like the captains outlook on it! I think they should make more executions public show. That might keep some from doing crimes. It does seem crooks have it better than some, uh what about the homeless? 3 hots and a cot. Check this, they have cable TV, work out rooms, schools, and everything else you can think of at the expense of YOU!!

 

I agree with the death penalty 100%. The people (media) that says it is not a deterent should look at our past. Back in the wild west days murder was rare. One reason: If you were caught you would be tried and usually hanged within 48 hours. I also agree with the death penalty for rapists and child molestors convicted more than once. People like that will not re-habilitate.

 

The death penalty should be carried out a week after sentencing Swift & immediate.

We take way to long up to 20 years before the death penalty is carried out.

Think of the money saved on food and housing.

Our military could use that money for pay raises.

It should be televised not pay preview everyone should see them suffer for the last time.

People had more respect for human life when they knew if someone was killed, or steal a horse.

Good old **** Celeste, when he was ending his term as governor, commuted some real scum, so now the taxpayers get to suppurt them for the rest of their life.

In addition to exercizing the death penalty, we should do what Singapore does and use the cane for lesser crimes.

There are too many flaws in the current death penalty laws to make it effective. And because of these flaws the media and slimy lawyers have all kinds of ways to slow down and even stop the proccess and put false thoughts into everyones minds. So the criminals all know that it is very unlikely that they will get iced! It's all BS the jails are all too soft and no one cares if they go to jail. If you feel like your jail cell pillow is too hard you can sue the state/county/etc and win restitution!

We need uncomfortable jails that are no fun to go to so that people will CARE if they are sent!

The death penalty must be swift and just. If there is any doubt (There rarely is) then drag it out for a year or two max if the doubt cant be resolved you get automatic life.

Have you heard about that warden in Arizona (I think) that will only allow the inmates to sleep outside in tents and they only get to eat white bread and bologna with no condiments! No tv no weight room no nothing extra! He has almost 0% repeat offenders but everyone is still trying to sue him for unfair treatment! What a joke! If some A-Hole breaks into a house and steals and beats an old lady for her belongings because he is to ****** lazy to get a job and then gets caugt he should have as misserable a time in jail as possible!

Some say that they suffer more when confined to life in prison. I don't think so. They have it easy and it is getting away with murder. I think it should be as cruel as the crime commited. I've heard before that god will forgive them. What about "Thou shall not kill"? How far does that go?

 

Now all this talk is rediculous. Electrocution, shooting, stoning????? Come on let's get real, if you hang them or stab them it's alot cheaper and you can reuse the intrument of death.

 

I'm 100% for the death penalty. What makes me mad is the media saying life in prison is more of a punishment if the sorry SOB is going to die behind bars anyway what difference does it make if the goverment kills him off at a young age or let the sorry SOB live to be an old man behind bars he would have spent the rest of his life behind bars killing them off cost less plus its less time to feed and house the SOB plus it helps on the over crowding and makes more room for more SOB's that do crimes.

 

Public punishment and exicutions = the way to go! How humiliating would it be for some gang-banger to have his buddies whatch him get publically b*tch-slapped in front of everybody? I know that if I'd seen puplic punishment of offenders when I was a kid, I would have gotten into a lot less trouble.
How about this one.....Russia needs American dollars, they also know how to run prisons. I say, second offence and its off to a Siberian prison for you. No TV, no law books, no good food and lots of COLD! Their fee plus a plane ticket would be a hell of a lot cheaper than the way we do it now. I forget who's idea this was, but it gets my vote.
I'm all for the death penalty, but life in a Russian prison...can you imagine? Think about it. Maybe its a good alternative. Certainly solves a lot of problems.
