whoa!!!

this weekend i was in houston (gag) and i saw on the news where some idiot naval recruiter was doing a hundred mph down a street and struck seven cars, the last being a f150 s/c. he ended up under the truck and hit the gas tank where it was reported that it exploded when it was hit and the sailor was trapped in his car(a goverment car) and was burned alive. the couple in the truck narrolly escaped alive with the girl on the passenger side recieving slight burns. the pictures were haugntenly familer as to when the chevys had that tank problem in the past. has anyone else heard anything about fords tanks having any problems? p.s. you know theres gonna be some major lawsuits for the goverment now,one less aircraft carrier i guess

I'm no expert, and I haven't heard of any problems, but....

If the Ford gas tank was impacted at such a high rate of speed, and with severe force, wouldn't this be a likely outcome? (explosion)

Depending on many factors, especially where it was struck, and how much fuel was in the tank.

I don't think there is a way to prevent such an explosion unless they spent so much money, that it wouldn't be practical.

I guess what I am trying to say is, just because the tank exploded, doesn't necessarily mean the design is flawed. Some things are unavoidable.

Maybe I'm wrong, just my thoughts on the subject.

So It takes an impact of 100MPH before the F150 tank is ruptured and causes a fire.

100MPH??????

How likely is that? I think I'll take my chances on that one. Wonder what the Whiplash would be like on that.

aaahhh it hit six other cars before hitting the truck,it does make you wonder. and for the record i saw the pictures and it appears that it hit from the pass. side and the nose of the car hit the tank over on the drivers side(basically the truckwas off of it's pas side wheels at a 30 degree angle with the car at a 90 to the truck)
