I won!

There's one other thing I forgot to tell you guys about.

Northeast state college held an auto mechanics competition on this past Saturday. (It was sponsored by FORD!!) My buddy John and myself were selected as the two students to compete on behalf of Science Hill. Top prize was a $1500 Snap-On tool set (with many Ford-specific tools) and a $2000 scholarship to each participant on the winning team. After about 6 long hours of competition, John and I took home top honors along with $750 each in tools! I now have tools that I have not the slightest clue as to what they are for. Also, I now have to tell dad to keep his hands of MY tools! haha! But we recieved recognition at School as well as in the paper for being the region's "Top Mechanics"

The comp. included the following:

Disassemble/reassemble:
Drum Brake system on 8.8" Ford
Disc Brake system on Macpherson strut

Assemble/diagnose wiring problems with:
Cigarette lighter
Headlights
Relay system

Balance tire

Identify:
20 various automotive parts
Parts to a tire (speed ratings, size, etc)
causes of irregular tire wear
Problems with braking system

Diagnose problems on 2000 Mustang GT; Replace TPS and IAC units

We had 10 min for each station except the Mustang... we got 15 on that. My buddy John and I did it all in the alotted time.

From: SE Wyoming, try and find me
I competed in on of those here in Wyoming in '99 except we had a Taurus and an Escort. Pretty much the same stuff though. Unfortunatley the other half of my team was a ch*#y guy and it hurt us in some of the diagnosing but we had fun all the same.
