Anyone here have a "tankless" water heater?

I am so tired of looking at my ugly huge water heater in the garage! I found this site and am in love!

http://www.tankless-water-heater.com/sizecomp.htm

Anyone have any experience with one? Any cons? I can see a ton of "pros"!

Thanks in advance for any input.

Jimmy

I have not had too much experaince with this type of heater. I have installed a couple that were similar.
They are not really used that often in the field (around here anyhow). We have a couple of customers that have that type that are constantly having problems. They aren't very popular so it hard to find parts and someone who can diognose problems.
It may be a more common thing in your area so you might have better luck.
The couple I have seen seem kind of cheap.
I know that tank can look bad in a shop or garage but I think that you can't beat the reliability.
You might want to check with some local plumbing supplys and plumbing contractors to see what they think.
You may have alternatives, like placing the tank in a better location and piping to the fixtures.
You might be ok with a heater like that, I would advise you check everything out before you go through the expense.

Good luck!
Tom

cool

Its funny that you should bring this up because I am building my house and seriously considering one of those tankless water heaters. From what I understand, they are gaining popularity in California.Contactors are putting these in the "energy smart" homes that they build.I Don't even know if I can get one here in small town oregon but I will cross that bridge when its time.....If they are reliable I can't see why a person wouldn't want one

My first experience with one of these was last week when I visited a buddy in his new mansio... err.. house. Took the 30 min. tour and he saved this for last: "You have got to see the water heater!!" Err...?? Hmm??

Little itty bitty thing hung up in a wall in a closet with inlets and outlets. Pretty cool. ... Cool is right. Took me about 5 min. to start up the hot water, but it always stayed hot afterwards.

I'm not sure of the cost savings v. gas...but I sure appreciate the never having someone flush the toilet ruining my shower.
