LMAO, 12 bolt is a GM rear end! All HD trucks came with the 5.4 which all 5.4 trucks have the 9.75" rear end. the 8.8 is only put in the 4.2 and 4.6 trucks . Notice where it says 9 75 on yhe tag and I bet that is a 3 insted of a 1 on the bottom meaning you have 3.55 gears

lol... The 9.75 Sterling has 12 bolts like the 10.25 Sterling...
the 8.8 has 10 bolts

But I believe he is right all 5.4s came with the 9.75 or some I think even had the 10.25... Your HD should be a 9.75 though

Ok, i'll admit I have never counted the number of bolts on the covers. But out of all the years I have been working on automobiles I have never herd anyone refer to them by the numbers of bolts on the cover, always by the manufacture, ring gear size, or number of bolts holding the ring gear to the differential. But I gurente you that if you go into an autoparts store and ask for a gasket for a 12 bolt you will get a GM gasket.

ok

I understand where you going with the 12 bolt cover. That particular on looks ike it is made for a Superduty (I am thinking thats why it says heavy duty) Did I mention I have a superduty with the sterling 10.25 diff in it........That price is great to bad mine is already on its way........you should shoot the seller an email (if you are serious about buying it) and finding out for sure if it will fit your truck

Sorry if I sounded harsh, and I totally agree. If someone came to me and said "I have a 12 bolt or 10 bolt rearend" I would immediately have thought of GM... Like the cruddy 10 bolt used behind some of the LS1 engines, that thing needs to go!

Anyway, I just wanted to clear that up... BTW if the site is referring to the the Ford 12 Bolt I would automatically assume it is for the 10.25 Sterling and not for the red-headed stepchild 9.75 (which I have not yet been able to find a chrome diff cover for - )...
