Question Can these trucks be stolen???

Listening to my scanner one nite I heard that a 2000 or 2001 F250 was stolen and that the keys were accounted for.

AFAIK these rigs have the chip in the key like the F150 and that the engine will_not_start without it. Am I correct about that????

Other than with a tow truck is it possible to steal one without the chip key???? I never hear of newer trucks with the chip key being stolen unless the idiot leaves his truck running or with the keys in it as a lot of idiots do here.

with the right tools you can beat those chips and computers. If it's made by man......it can be broken by man.

2000 F250, NO PATS KEY..........pop the ignition with a dent puller and your off to the races.

Get yourself a alarm...............again nothings "foolproof", but I've never had a vehicle stolen ( knock on wood) and I don't know anyone who has. A alarm may slow them down a little bit, they are designed to deter theft, not stop it. Besides, they can always steal a tow truck and then just tow your car/truck away.

That PATS equipt trucks are VERY hard, but not impossible to steal. Usually bad guys don't mess with them because they know what it an easy target and what is not. In 4 years of being a police officer, I have only seen a couple F-series stolen, and they usually had the keys too.

If you have a Saturn, Camry, most 80's - early 90's GM's and Chryslers, I would worry about auto theft!!! I'd guess that those makes account for atleast 75% of our stolen cars.
