Am I Compulsive?
Am I Compulsive?
Am I the only retard who spends 20 hours a week cleaning my truck?
Once or twice a week, I'll go through the touchless when I'm in a hurry, just to get the dust and gunk off.
The touchless takes 5 minutes, wiping it down takes 2 hours. LOL
Every Saturday is a total write off because I'll start cleaning first thing in the morning, and I get done around 8PM
* interior takes forever because I'm a anti-dust freak
* Hand wash
* towel dry
* wax
Then when I'm all done, I go over it again with a detailing cloth, just in case I missed anything.
My back is killing me and I'm out of beer, bleh
It's getting so bad that a few times when I finished up on Sat, and parked it in the garage, it started to rain....it rained for 3 days, and I didn't drive it, I didn't dare take it outside.
Instead, I humbled myself and drove my wifes Windstar.
I have dreams of Weld wheels and Billet grills.
Someone please help, I need to join some kind of Ford-a-holics.
Well, beer store is open for 20 more minutes, so I'm driving down there in the minivan (I think I saw a rain drop out the window)

PS --> Many thanks to intel486, the detail king

I washed mine tonight. This is what the 7-day looks like.

When I'm home (i'm in college now, no garrage) I wax her more and clean the interior with the central vac. And she stayes much nicer. Now, she stay's nice, but staying out in the dew and small sprinkles really get to her. Any way, It takes me about 2 or 3 or 4 times more to clean my truck than all my friends.
Together, we will found the CFF clinic (Clean Ford Freaks). Raoul will be the Guest Relations person, Cowlady will be PR.

I used to be exactly like you with the first new car I ever bought...a '66 Fairlane 500, 390, 4 speed, 389 9", etc. I worked in a service station at the time and even put it on the lift and cleaned and detailed the bottom once a week! Eventually I polished the paint down to the primer on the high spots, and it was at that point that I became a little less compulsive. Today's paints are a lot tougher and I only do a 'once in a while' cleaning. I feel like less of a slave to my vehicle, and have more time to enjoy it, plus with living on a gravel road the thing isn't clean for long anyway.
I accept!
Thank you for nomination of being the PR person for your "clinic" - what a kind way of saying I have a big mouth & never shut up! J/K! LOL!
I have no way to wash my truck here. No hose hookup & I can't carry buckets of water out to rinse so I either use the car wash (touchless of course!) or drive 90 miles to my Mom's & use her driveway. This presents problems though - that's a long drive & means the truck usually looks dirty by the time I get home, I have to wait for a free weekend to go out there & since it's a long drive I end up staying overnite at least soooooo - I do more visiting w/my Mom than cleaning Fearless! My heart is in the right spot but things usually work against me.
I did stop & wash him today - guess we'll have rain all week now. It usually works that way. Since I ONLY have the truck I can't use another vehicle - darn, being single is not all it's cracked up to be. LOL!
