Question How good is the 5.4?????

What is the 5.4 like?

I am buying a used 99 xtracab 4x4 with the 5.4 in it..........I now have a 1987 4x4 with a 302.

Will the 5.4 be a pleasant surprise?

I hate the gutless 302 in the truck..........try to tow or put on a camper....dog.

Anyway, your thoughts are welcome.

I like my 5.4L. It's got the power where you need it at. I haven't had any problems with mine. It's got more than enough power to light 'em up to

They are ok. I sure wish I could have a good old pushrod engine though. Easier to build up, trouble shoot, everything. Sometimes I think Chevy is doing the right thing by staying the pushrod route. You don't need a high revving cammer engine in a truck. Just addes complexity and crap.

Overall mine has been ok so far, God help me if anything goes wrong. You can hardly see the thing down in there.
