Angry Off-topic - Question for the media

If I go to www.cnn.com, I see headlines about Robert Blake popping his wife (duh), some tower in Milan with a plane sticking out of it and Brittany Spears' new tour....

...but where's the story on the US Guard pilot who just vaporized 4 young Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan fighting alongside your boys? I knew one of those killed, and his wife and kids...I know this sort of story is bad for "morale", but I would have expected it to make the top ten stories...

...I know it was a tragic accident, and no one feels worse than the pilot, but there are a lot pf people with questions up here.

...I think Canada should be willing to sacrifice to defend North America as a continent, and we should put our money where our mouth is and back up the US, but why is the US media doing our country such a disservice as to ignore the story?

It was all over the news yesterday and the day before.

You might just be a day late. The whole I dea of the CNN Online is to be dynamic and to post the most current news as soon as possible.

I don't think anyone is trying to cover up the tragedy.

Different timelines

I suppose I have to realize the nature of news, that stories are good for a day. As you can imagine, it's certainly still newsworthy up here....flags are at 1/2 mast across the country.

I'm certainly not pointing fingers at Canada because the US is doing the same thing but,

what in the Hell is this 'training exercise' in a hostile combat zone?

Train back home.

If I am where there is a possibility of threat (combat zone)
Then anything that ressembles threat (training exercise)
Will get knee jerk response from me (because I'm scared)

I'm not a Field General and never came close to being one but, it just don't make sense to me.

Raoul,

are you questioning our all-knowing, all-seeing
military? You ARE aware they are monitoring all
websites in an attempt to find people who are
considered "threats to their authority".....aren't
you? I wouldn't open any strange ticking packages.

Good question....

What I want to know is how an F-16 can tell he's being fired at by small arms? Surely he's not claiming he saw tracer rounds coming up at him?

I can see if a surface to air missle "lit him up" with radar, but that's not the case, the training involved small arms...this sounds like a scandal....I'll bet the idiot dropped it looking for the cigarrette lighter.

And for the record, anything going on in Afghanistan is under US miltary control...our boys were just taking orders when they were hit.

Man, I really worry when I find myself agreeing with Raoul.

That being said, memebers of the military die all the time in training excercise at home and abroad. You can not operate around millions(billions) of doallars of weapons and ordinance built and maintained to basically kill peoeple and not have an accident or two.

I think there was an accident a week or two before where a bunch of American soldiers where blown up trying to dispose of Afghan bombs.

The fact that there are accidents and mistakes that cost peoples their lives is a tragic and hard to explain byproduct of war and preparing for war. Unfourtunately, sometimes we have to fight for whats right and bad things happen.
