You need to get involved with this organization... very anti-camera, and have filed lawsuits that have succeeded in voiding speed camera tickets.

What that article doesn't say is the fact that the Gov kept saying he'd veto the bill to repeal the law when it got to his desk. I suppose he finally realized he'd be a hypocrite and really pi$$ off the voters if he vetoed it. After all, he has used the "If you don't like a law... Change it" statement many many times, thinking nothing would ever happen.

Well, this time, public opinion worked.

This is how it happened and it can be used in other locations. Public outcry was loud. The minority party in the Senate took up the cause and fanned the flames. Senators who supported keeping the law were inundated with calls, letters, and emails. The daily papers and tv news stations had stories on it every night. There were even pictures on tv of people holding up sheets in front of the cams to keep them from issuing citations.

The Senate folded and went along with the repeal.

Then it went to the House were the majority was again in favor of keeping the cams. The PR machine got cranked up and people like me called our Representatives and warned them that if they didn't support the complete repeal of the law, we'd vote them out of office this year.

It's the first time I can recall that public opinion was able to change a law. Usually, laws were set in stone and only the courts could get them changed.

So, just get the minority party involved in the cause and crank up the publicity machine. Call and write the law makers and threaten them with their ouster at the next election.

Dennis:

Great work from you and other citizens. Our Republic form of government does work--sometimes. Btw, my state is gerrymandered and thereby, ruled by a dictator--his honor --roy barnes.

Interstate Camera's

Before everyone goes jumping on the band wagon here, these camera's are not for speed detection. They are for when you, your wives, your daughter's, etc. are stranded on/in the road and need help. We have personnally stopped an attach on a young lady when the 'nice' gentlemen that stopped to help here got rough. We had already sent a SHEP truck that drove up just as he was grabbing her and dragging her to his car. No one in my staff gives a rats *** whether your speeding, we only care if you need assistance or have been involved in a crash and are blocking the highway. See our camera's at:

There is a big difference in what interstate camera's do and what the 'red' light running camera's do!

Lightninrod, you are welcome to come tour our facility in SC anytime or you may wnat to visit the complex in Atlanta. They have a nice building. Also if you drive around Atlanta and don't take advantage of the Navigator system that gives traffic reports via the interstate camera's then you are not getting you money'w worht from the taxes you pay...
