hard question

ok. my bro has a 2000 f-150 xlt extended cab. Best buy has a deal of free instlaation with a head unit. he got the head unit then they told him he needs a different harness since he has the PREMIUM sound system. it supposidly has an amp.We have never heard of this truck havving premium sound system or an amp. the truck has no cd player.

Does it really have an amp? and what does he need to put in the new radio?

if all he needs is a new harness, then they should have those there. I think that's pretty common with Fords (needing a diff. harness).

no, you don't need that. my friend has a probe gt and had a head unit put in my circuit city and that car had an amp too that came from the factory. all he needed was the new harness.

Beware of Best Buy???

My friend had a similar experience at Best Buy. I don't
recall the specifics, but I know he ended up buying more
than he originally went in for. I personally haven't dealt
with them.

whenever i need to have some stereo equpment put in, that i can't do myself, i take it to a stereo shop that does custom installations. They tend to be a lot better than a store like Best Buy or Circuit City. And they don't give you the run around. And they know what they're talking about.
