Thumbs up

Tim,
I couldn't agree more, I think a part of everyone died that day, if they followed racing at all. People either loved him or hated him, I thought he was the best.

LOL Chickenears! That was good.

Yeah, trashguy...it does make me sick.

When Davey Allison died, the reactions I saw from earhhart fans ranged from smug to outright elation. I even heard laughter from some the day after. I was never much of a fan of him because he was such a dirty driver, but the reaction from these earnhart lovers just showed me what kind of ppl his fans are. I was saddened by earnharts death too, and I never said any of the things that I heard from them when Davey died.

Yes it makes me sick to see a Ford with anything earnhart on it. Always has and always will. It just strikes me as wrong to shell out hard earned money for a Ford that gets you to work and back day after day and then slap anything to do with a chevy it.
Wrong wrong wrong.

Why exactly??? Do you think people should be so blindly brand loyal that they can't see beyond an oval or bow tie or one of those H's on japanese cars...or a roundel or a 3 pointed star or whatever that symbol on toyotas is...to find exciting products?

This has nothing to do with Nascar. I hate nascar, I don't care about earnhardt, never heard of davey allison...and don't get much enjoyment from watching guys go around in circles for a couple hours. But that doesn't matter. If someone liked earnhardt...why shouldn't they put his number on their car if they feel so inclined? Just because they drive a ford? Come on. Do you think that those Nascar race cars actually have anything to do with the passanger cars they are based on anyway? They liked the guy, not the car.

I have owned nothing but Ford's up to this point in my life...more so by accident than anything intentional. However, the car I truly lust after is a chevy...the vette of course..not the malibu.

I think showing an appreciation for great products shows that a person is well rounded and intelligent. I have given the Corvette guys crap on corvetteforum many times for hating Ford (for no reason other that stupid brand loyalty) so don't think I am just picking on the guys that bleed blue. It just seems ridiculous to me...to hate something..be it another brand...race...what have you...for no other reason than say...your parents hated it(for example).

Having a bad experience with a brand or company is one thing. Yelling at people simply because they can appreciate great products regardless of the badge on the hood is quite another.

95 Saleen S351,

Preach on my Brotha'! You hit that one on the mark. If NASCAR ever goes back to pulling cars off the showroom floor to race. I might show a little more interest.

Dale was the 'Man". Petty is the "King". In ten years Gordon will probably have overshadowed them both in accomplishments, and will still be called a "Homo" by the fans with "Scarlet Collar Syndrome". That is, of course, if Tony Stewart doesn't kill him first.

Hey:

I think not liking anything made by GM isn't necessarily indicative of 'blind brand loyalty'. More of an indication of common sense, I think. The Solstice and other vehicles made by Toyota and rebadged as GM vehicles are probably an exception to this rule. Geos are not.

Ford is the only domestic car company I would consider buying from, and that includes Daimler-Chrysler. Are they still considered domestic? Speaking of that, where's our bailout money?

I used to like NASCAR, though I never really followed any particular drivers, but these days I am getting pretty tired of it.
Its getting to be too much like Top 40 music. Watered down for the masses, waaaaaaaay over-commercialized.

My .02

Steve

Well put. I can't buy anything even close to what these guys run, so the brand really doesn't matter. At least the Formula 1 guys don't pretend that their cars don't resemble the street machines they sell.
