Is it worth it ?
Looking at engine mods but price vs what you get (or what they say you get)does not seem to be worth it .
Airaid $230.00 8-10 hp
Borla exhaust $380.00 15 hp
JBA plug wires $70.00 5 hp
Poweraid spacer $85.00 5-8 hp
Result - 35 hp for $765
I think I will put my money in appearance products .

Captain Nemo-
Here's your order of horsepower vs dollar.
Superchip, FIPK, exhaust, underdrive pulleys, electric fans, headers. Skip the PowerAid spacer and use this money elsewhere. Don't expect 5HP from plug wires.

Pull the silencer out of the end of your airbox, new filter(paper) and a Fernco adapter (3") from the fenderwell to airbox. Cost $20.00 and you'll gain a few.
Just replace the muffler, and you'll get similar gains, a little less peak, however a much better bottom end grunt. A good replacement $100.00, more for stainless. Spin Tech, Ravin, Edelbrock. Just pick something with a little restriction, not a "free flowing".
Spacer, trick flow makes a phenolic spacer its $55.00 + from summit, adds bottom end via more plenuim volume and added runner/intake length. This increases the velocity of the incoming air at lower rpms.
Your adding the HP gains, when in fact they may occur all over the rpm range. the spacer will add 5 hp(in theroy) but it will be lower in the rpm scale, and may actually hurt performance at higher rpms. so while it does in fact add 5 hp at 3000rpm it may cost you 5 that you have now at 5000rpm. If you want more bottom end, it is a great mod.
The exhaust is a trick, they can add a whole lotta of power higher in the rpm range, but it will cost you some bottom end. Most people go too big with exhaust, a restrictive system aids in cylinder filling at low rpms by increasing the velocity of the exiting gasses, creating a scavanging effect, however this may not support enough airflow at higher rpms to make alot of power.
Good balance is needed, especially for the street. what makes power may be good on a track with the motor screaming, may really suck on the street.
FWIW My choices
open up the airbox (I've got a ram air set-up)
Muffler replacement
Chips are great especially for the shifting alone.
Electric fan.
I ran my truck it went 16.32 @88.9 mph
it weighs 4760 lbs
according to the corral dyno
The Corral: Engine Dyno
Initial Readings
READING OUTPUT UNITS
WEIGHT 4760 pounds
TRAP SPEED 88.9 mph
E/T 16.32 seconds
Dyno Readings
READING OUTPUT UNITS
Total Horsepower 266 bhp
Horsepower Used 216 bhp
Best E/T 15.22 seconds
this is with a 3:08 rear.
