Engine swap

OK - I know this is really pathetic since this is my first post here in ages and it has absolutely nothing to do with my truck, but I hope you will indulge me. I know there are other Mustang owners/enthusiasts here, and just those much more knowledgeable than myself about this. I have a '67 Mustang that currently has a 289 2bbl in it that needs rebuilding. A coworker has a built 351W that he will part with for less than it will take to have my engine rebuilt. I know it will fit, but was curious what kind of problems (different motor mounts, steering linkages, etc) that I might run into. The tranny is a C4 auto, which I will probably drop and have rebuilt to beef it up some to handle the extra torque. What other gotchas might pop up?

TIA

Sorry I cant help you but I was wondering is the 289 a reliable engine. I want to get a classic mustang myself one day.

Oh yeah, go to the corral for the best info on stangs. www.corral.net/forums . Also www.dfwstangs.net . Thanks.

it you decide to put a 351W in, you might consider just getting a C6 tranny. I have a feeling it'll be able to take the abuse from a 351 and will be less problematic.

Personally, I wouldn't part with the 289 and would in fact add a 4bbl and intake. Especially if the serials match.

I wouldn't part with the 289, it was a great engine. There isn't much that can keep up with a properly built 289.
