if you guys are interested there's a good website for sale priced models. it's at

www.modelexpo-online.com they have some great prices and pretty good quality. that's where i got the pete from and a free gift model as well. many hard to find items there.

swofford: yep i may be needing an airbrush myself soon. used to use one when i was a kid and now i'm getting tired of spray bombs again. just can't get the same quality finish.

Question Model car builders.

What you guys do with the windows.
Do you use smoke to tint them.
I f*cked up the Lightning windows.
I have 100% tinted windows now.

It is not easy to get a smooth slightly tinted window.

Any advice!!

probably the neatest model i build was of a V-8 engine. It really works too. If you turn the crank, the pistons and valves and camshaft and lifter all move. Except the camshaft if messed up, so now the valves, push rods and stuff don't work.

Ive got no idea how to tint windows LOL.

Wild-

What kind of brush you looking at getting? I use a badger 100XF double action gravity feed artist brush, with a built on 1/3 oz color cup. I got a Porter Cable compressor for it, its a good set up.

what if you take some black spray paint and hold the bottle about 4 feet from the windows (before you put them in, mind you) and spray the paint at them a few times? Maybe the paint will disperse enough in the air before it gets to the gound to make a very light "see-through" coating.

swofford: not sure yet, just started kicking the idea around one day. haven't really acted on it at all yet. i know badger makes a nice set up. how big is your compressor? i used to just use the canned air when i was younger. real air would be nice.

Wild its a 2 horse 6 gallon tank. The entire thing compressor and all cost me about 300 bucks HOWEVER Campbell-Hausefeld makes a nice compressor for about 100 bucks compared to the one I have same size regulator and all. Get you a nice setup to start with.

You can get a special spray can (called smoke here) to tint the windows.
But I never can get it right.
Some spots on the windows are dark, others have nothing.
