Living In Import Hell
Living In Import Hell
New owners of the house across the street just moved in. They have rug rats a Benz and a Honda mini van. My neighbor on the right of me has two Bimmers, an Isuzu SUV, and an Audi. The one directly across has a Toyota Avalon, a Camry, and an old Nissan Sentra. Couple of houses away, Lexus and Toyotas. Across from them, Toyota Avalon and truck. Next to them, Subaru, Mazda, and Avalon. All I need is to have somebody buy a Jag and I'm moving. Almost freaked that somebody bought a Rolls one day, but it was only visiting.
What's with these people? I live in a middle class neighborhood and there are only three homes that have any Detroit iron in their driveways and they happen to be the only three homes with Fords. I have two Fords. My neighbor to the left has a Ranger and the Merc version of the Windstar. Down the street is a guy with an Expedition for the wife and an F-350 PSD for him.
Seems like every other car here is a Ford, but on my street it seems like every other car is a Toyota or German product. At least the kid with the riced out roll caged fart canned Civic moved to the Bay area and took it with him.
Anybody else feeling a bit overwhelmed by imports as I am?

my neighbor to the left has a Benz and a some other import, can't remember what it is. People directly across the street have a Benz and a Volvo. People to the right of me have a Sienna and a Sentra. There's a few Accords and other Siennas floating around too. There's another couple down the street with a Benz and a Navigator. I think im the only one with a truck of any sort. I don't care though. I got the biggest baddest ride on the block and i'm proud of it
I own two Fords. Guy to the right has a Honda Accord. Guy to the left has an Explorer and a Thunderbird. Right after them is a guy with a Honda and a minivan. A GUY IS NOT SUPPOSED TO OWN A MINIVAN!

I'd buy my wife an Excursion before i even look at minivans. She'd be Big Pimpin

-or she can buy her own, hell i don't care.
Some people just don't care. That or they're stuck in the '80s when most American cars WERE junk. Everyone around me seems to be headed back to domestics, thank God. Neighbor just traded her ho-hum Camry in for a new Escape. Across the street is 3 domestics, next to them is an Acura and Saturn and then a Thunderbird and Explorer. Oh yeah, and then there are the people that are into "status" or "appearance". As shallow as that may be.
that just makes your truck THAT MUCH BETTER to look at
. i feel your pain, though. here at school, all i see are benz, bimmers, and rice (example: not a plain civic, but one with a huge spoiler, fart pipe, stickers...etc). theres only maybe a handful (4 or 5) american sports cars, absolutely NO trucks (except mine) and the rest are import riced out crap!

Just an FYI:
If my memory serves me, Honda Accords are made right here in the good ole USA.
But yes I know how you feel, the neighbors are driving VW's now, but the son still has a PSD so its not all bad. But those are really the only "neighbors," out here "in the sticks" as some people call it.

It's not that bad around here, it's a pretty decent mix. Of course we here in Kentucky are always 50 years behind everyone else. There's not one import in my drive, neighbors have an old 460 lincoln, a Camry, an old Buick, and a old Chevy pickup. At work I am the only Ford guy, so I get all the Ford jokes and questions. We have our Toyota guy, our Chysler/Jeep and Chevy guy, another Chevy guy, a Honda guy, and our only girl there has a Hyundia. The more I think about it there are a lot of Toyota's around here but that is because we are only 30 miles from the Georgetown Toyota plant and about 50 miles from a Toyota place in Ohio. Very, very few BMW's, Lexus and the like. Lots of fullsize Chevy, Dodge, and Ford trucks.
On my block, there is my F-150, a Lightning, another 97 F-150, an 87 F-150, a 91 Ranger, and 85 Bronco II, an 85 Bronco, a 76 Cougar, a 95 Grand Marquis, a 96 Blazer and a 79 Chevy 3500. All Detroit, Ford dominated, just like the monster trucks on TNN!
I tear up the vacant lot in the neighborhood with my wife's Wrangler, easier to clean. I put the F150 out in front of the house to make the speeders slow down when passing my driveway, where the kids play, and I make sure the Harley is running perfectly all the time.
My cop neighbor moved in, with a barking *** dog all the time, put a alarm on his house and Grand Prix. Now he can't use either alarm, because I can set them off with just one or two rev.'s with the bike. He got tired of paying for false alarm calls and all the other nieghbors got tired of listening to the car after I leave.
Sunday afternoons are great too when about 10 of my riding freinds decide to pop in.
Believe it or not, all the neighbors are real freindly(except the cop) and most want to hang out at my house.

I get sooo tired of hearing "Hondas are made here in the USA." That is true about some. Honda is a foreign company, all profits for running Honda of America go to the mothership in Japan. Same as when Ford sells a car or truck in Europe. The profits go back to the USA. Cheap justification. My L was made in Canada. It's still a Ford, profits still come back here.
I don't know for sure what Makes my neighbors have because they've all been striped.
My truck was up on blocks and somebody stole my blocks.
The City bought new garbage trucks and when one came down the street everybody came out and said,
"Ooooh!...Aaaah!".
