According to my sources the 2004 F-150 will debut in the fall of 2003. Yes it sounds like will have to wait 18 months... But from what I hear, it'll be worth the wait.
My source is my dealer, who talked to the Ford Rep last week.

Many poeple claim to have seen pics. I don't know who I beleive anymore. All I know is Ford says look at the new Tonka concept as a heavy influence... IMHO I expect dramatic changes. All the Ford rep would say is that the 97 was much better than the compettion when it arrived and when this new truck arrives, that gap will be much bigger... He said the other boys wil be playing catch up again...

Interesting to see what happens in the next 2 years re: HP. Dodge has the 5.7L HEMI ready for the 2500/3500 with 345 Hp and the Nissan dealer says their truck debuts next spring with a reported 5.0L version of their 4.5L from the Q45 (which has 340 HP). I imagine that 5.0L would be more geared towards Torque, but if Nissan wants to make a splash that'll be the way to do it. I "trust" Ford will not come out with a "lesser" powered truck 6 months after the Nissan debuts. I know there is more that Hp to consider but hey, boys will be boys... And who knows if Dodge will even put the HEMI as is into the 1500?

Yes the new Hemi will go into the Ram 1500s.Thats what I have been hearing.Think about it: the 4.7 or the v6(3.7?), both of these motors don't have the power that people crave.
I am gonna try to stay with ford but that magic word (HEMI ) is very appealing,if it delivers what dodge says it will.( I just put on my flame suit).Don't get me wrong, I love my ford, but it seems like ford is resting on there laurels or something.Unfortunately, I will have to make this decision because my lease ends in may 0f 2003.
