I have a great tip for cold climates!

I know I am not the only 1 who has gone out to the truck & found the side view mirrors coated in ice/frost. I hate having to scrape them since all I have is a wide, extending snow brush & it's too large to get near the mirror surface. Using my hands isn't good either.
Well, I recently started using that non-freezing windshield washer fluid - it ranges from yellow to orange & I am very pleased with the results! I can clean my windshield at any temp w/o it icing up. I got the idea to pour some off into an old spray bottle & now when I have frozen mirrors I spray them too & it makes it super easy to clean them off! I'm even wondering if spraying some into the locks would help on those realy cold, frigid mornings BUT I haven't tried it yet so I suggest you don't either!
I just thought others may benefit from this tip too. Oh - just don't use any kind of juice container if you don't have a spray bottle or someone could mistake it for juice, especialy a child or Chevy driver! LOL!
Here's my second valid post that won't fit into any other Forum! That makes 2 down, 1 to go!

great idea, but hold off putting that stuff into any moving parts. It could thin out and displace any lube in there.

(this one could have been posted in "general care" and one more post count for you)

OK. I'm just a stupid hick from the tropics, but couldn't you just put a plastic bag over the mirrors and take them off before you drive?

This is another one that you could have posted elsewhere for points.

That's a good tip. I wish I knew about that when I was scraping the snow off my windows about 2 months ago! I'll try that next time.

I've seen an Expedition with heated mirrors! I wonder if I could get them to work on my 97?

I'd rather have those than the turn signal mirrors any day. Scraping the ice off the mirrors also leaves scratches on them too.
