Unhappy Can it get worse?

This has been the worst " Truck" week since I got hit by the school bus last year..

Found a used Superchips flip chip in the F150 classifieds that matched my code perfectly about 2 weeks ago and e-mailed the seller about and ended up sending the funds to seal the deal. Package arrived yesterday and when I opened it up it was empty except for 2 wads of newspaper and a carb cert sticker. Seller states it was in there when he mailed it so it looks like this is going to be fun to resolve or I got screwed for $160.00 +. Started the process with the Post Office this A.M since I sent it all priority mail with a postal money order to see what can be done. Went back to copy the forsale add and it has been deleted in the last few days. Got that bad feeling going on with this one.

Had located a very nice used truck cap that the guy accepted a offer of 300.00 on earlier. I needed to check with a buddy whos family owns a body shop about getting it re-painted and told him I would be back Fri to pick it up. Went back today to pick it up and the guy wasn`t home and the cap was no where to be seen. Finally got him on the phone around dinner time and he told me I could come get my cash. He wouldnt elaborate on the phone why so I headed over there. When I got there he informed me a guy stopped by yesterday and offered him his orig price and he took it. He already had my cash on a deal and sold it to another. At least on this one I got my money back.

Then to top it all off when I got home from the mall/dinner tonight I pulled a little too close to the trash cans and put a real nice 2" scratch right through the paint on the front fender

Felt so bad about it all I finally called Mike Troyer and ordered the Superchip straight from him before the price increase to get me in a good mood. Too bad I had to spend 160.00 on a bad deal first so this chip better work like you all say for the almost 500.00 it has cost me to chip my baby so far

My heart goes out to you man. Like the old saying goes, bad thing's comes in three's. I really hope you can get your money back from the bad chip deal, but from the looks of it your probably right about taking a hit. Sorry about that. Did the guy on the phone sound like he was up and up, and did the package look like it had been open?? Just curious about his background? Well anyway hope the new chip works for you, maybe some day I'll have enough funds to buy one. Keep up the good fight and good luck. C-ya around.

That is sounding pretty harsh, man. It can always get worse, though, find the good in your situation!

That sucks. Hold your head up and consider it a lesson on dealing with people. People can be A$$holes at times. The economy kinda sucks right now making it worse. I had a tenant hand me $100 and say "we'll be out by the end of the month". I sent my tree guy over the next day to trim the trees, tear down the fences, and haul away the garbage (kids toys, etc.) and brush from the property. So they can live there on a busy corner with no fence for the rest of the month. IN your case, I would take a big healthy crap in a Ziploc bag and send it back to him.

PBALL,
Guy did sound on the up and up and in the conversations so it was all feeling good. I`m not real sure that he didn`t send it like he said but I don`t know. The only thing that seems weird is the carb cert sticker inside. Why would he send a empty box with this in there and nothing else. Package was shipped with clear tape sealing it and it didn`t look like it had been open.
Another good possibilty is that in the mailing process the package opened and the item came out or it was opened and stolen. I`m waiting now to see what he says. I requested a refund and told him HE needs to file a claim with the USPS about getting a mail trace on it or a claim for refund. I guess his actions will speak for themselves in the coming week.

I`ve never had a problem buying or selling with anyone on the boards here so I never had a doubt about sending the money. In the last 10 yrs I`ve gotten taken only one other time and that was at a old site I used to use at haggle.com and he took 23 other people in a week before we all caught on.

WOW! I hate when that happens.
Was this person a member here? (don't say his name now) but you might want to tell him if he can not prove that he is taking steps to rememdy this, ie send you proof that he has filed a claim with USPS, you will make his name public. In fact, if he has a valid claim with USPS where he will get his money back, and he knows if he does or not, he should send you the money while he is waiting for it from USPS anyway.
I just don't see it getting opened after you sent it, and before you got it. I mean when I ordered my chip from Mike, the chip was in there. Not wads of newspaper. Was there enough newspaper for you to identify the city or state the newspaper is from? I bet it is his hometown newspaper.

I hope your luck improves.
And if this creep did this intentionally, I got a feeling his luck will take a sudden turn. What goes around, comes around.

the weight of the package would be different with the chip in the box. the USPS uses computerized scales, and the price for sending the package would show the difference.

I orded a flip chip from the classifieds with a code of ATC2 two weeks ago. I sent a money order for $160 too. This is not sounding good. He told me he sent it on Feb. 13th. Your's wasn't from TX, was it?

Sounds like you two need to get together on this, file a complaint on the mail fraud, and nail this SOB.

MRBBQMAN has a great point, the weight should show the difference of having no chip.

With two money orders to trace, and two postal numbers it should be easier to catch him. Also keep in mind that a post office has security cameras and they transaction of the mailing will allow them to index it for the police. Technology must suck for criminals.

I'm not sure due to the recent change in classifieds, but the webmaster may be able to give an IP to the police as well.
