jryager,

The only other dealer I have to go to is in Sarasota. It is not far from me but they are the ones that could never fix the Explorer. The other ones are a long haul. My family owns adjacent commercial property to my dealer and I have bought three cars from the same salesman in the last 10 years. I should get better than normal service, and I do. They have paid for a month of rental cars for me. I don't even mind if they can't fix it, OK then do something about that. I read up on BON and here are some problems that Ford dealers face.

Ford no longer pays techs to road test vehicles to confirm problems or repairs. My truck could run pretty normal for three days and then run like crap for three more. And like you said, they can't really be mechanics anymore. The techs have been swallowed by the bean counting process. They won't get paid to drive my truck to experience the problem. I don't blame them for not trying, however, that explains the "could not duplicate" that we see on invoices. The only thing more frustrating than being a customer with a bad vehicle is being a tech trying to fix one.

Seacrow,

Couldn't agree with you more, but my best friend is the GM at a Dealer, and there are days he will not take mine in for service until the right technician is available, even in his own shop. I am fortunate, very fortunate.

Just a suggestion.... sorry you are having problems.......

John
