97 vs. New Fronts

I've owned three F-150's since 97. I had a 97, 2001, and now a 2002. Is it me or does the bumper on the 97 look much better than the flimsy plastic ones that have been on newer trucks? I just think that the big chrome bumper with bigger foglights looks meaner than the conservative fronts.

I agree the '97 & 98 bumper looked better, meaner, more truck like. I hope they'll remember this with the next generation. the '03 Expy "lost" it's bumper too. At least with the Tonka truck it stayed... a nice chrome bumper...

I like the 97 fronts, too. Nothing wrong with the newer ones, I just think that the 97s look better. Not that I am biased or anything...

I like the 97's as well. On a 4x4 I'd rather a nice chrome bumper but on a 2wd I wouldn't care and the Lightning looks great with the painted bumper.

I agree, the bumpers definately looked better on the '97's and '98's.... I do think the slightly larger grill on the 99's and up looks better though, so I guess its a trade off....

I should of been the one to start the topic. I just hate the new bumper. I cant even imagine upgrading it to the new one because it will make a truck look worse. I guess Ford decided to save money using the new bumpers.

Stick with what looks best!

I am biased - I love the 97's bumper & I agree with you guys! Anytime they start using plastic on a vehicle, especially a truck it cheapens it in my opinion & I also question the safety factor as well.

Removing the front license plate and holder makes a huge difference too If your state doesn't require one, you really need to see it without one.
