Fearless's latest adventures!

Well, after the runaway flatbed incident the week before I was not too shocked at this latest close call.
We had a severe ice storm here Thursday. I had been out in it & wishing I'd stayed home - good thing I didn't!
When I did get home I went to pull into the driveway & couldn't figure out at first what was in my parking spot. Then as I got closer I saw "who" the tresspasser was - a HUGE plum tree! Next to the parking pad stood a beautiful, big plum tree with the best tasting plums I'd ever had! Well, the ice was too much for it & it came crashing down onto the exact spot that Fearless usually occupies! Had I been home he would have been crushed!
The next day I was out again & this time I managed to take evasive action & drove UNDER 2 power lines hanging across my side of the road. I no sooner got under them than I found myself driving OVER 4 lines that were in the road!
We're having such extreme, horrendous weather here & I'm fed up! I had to park the truck in a machine shops lot for 2 nites & I was paranoid - the spot was dark & secluded but we aren't allowed to park on the streets overnite during the winter for snow plowing access. Thank God he wasn't broken into or vandalized!
I'm just "venting" since this makes 2 close calls w/in 1 week! I wish it were summer already!

Hey Cowlady

Sounds like you might want to consider moving down here to Georgia.
We have the rare ice storm but it is about once a decade!

Glad everything is ok

cowlady...

congratulate me! This is my 400th post.
Yippee!!! O.K., it's not that exciting, but
humor me anyway It's funny you post
about bad weather because we actually
have a bit of the bad stuff heading our
way tomorrow. We are overdue. We
haven't had any snow or ice in quite a
while. But I digress, you know you are
always welcome here in good ol' MS.
It might take a little adjusting, but it's
nothing you couldn't handle! I hope
this week gets better for ya'. Just
remember, deep breaths and more deep
breaths.

Don't know what's up with Mother Nature but we had a new record on Saturday.
Temperatures have never been that high in the last 100 years.
In the middle of the winter and we had about +17 degrees celsius
here. (56F)

I can't say I am happy with it while the weather is causing a lot of trouble in the crops I am harvesting right now.
Crops are just not used to this kind of weather yet.
Quality is not that good.
Less quality means less $$$$$$$$$.

New feature on SuperDuties ... Autopilot

My dad just bought a new F-350 SD 4x4 on New years Eve. About 2 weeks ago we had a couple of inches of snow here. I drove the truck down the apartments he owns and parked it where another car had obviously been parked overnight, as their was snow there. I went about shoveling the sidewalks, and Dad went inside to do something else.
The next thing I know, I look up, and the truck is in the middle of the parking lot, and i'm thinking, "Were is Dad going, I've got the keys?"
Well, the parking lot is on a slight slope, and the truck was sliding down the parking lot. The truck had been parked for approximately 10 minutes. The front tires were on the clear patch of pavement, but the rear tires were still on snow. The weight of the truck apparently put enough pressure on the snow to turn it to ice, and this allowed the truck to start sliding!
Oh yeah, the truck has the limited slip rear end, and both tires were sliding. Personally, I blaming it on the cheap all season firestones.
Luckily, it stopped before it hit the chevy truck parked about another 6 or 7 feet behind it.

Dad likes to name his vehicles, so I took the liberty of naming his new truck ... Christine
