Gore-tex

Today and tonight I am thankfull that gore-tex was invented. It has rained here all day, fixing to start freezing. The freeze line is only 10-20 mile north. I have a feeling that tomarow walking to class will be fun

By the way, they are Nike, Air Crested Butte, with a gore-tex liner, awsome

Vasque GoreTex boots rule! I where them everyday to work, and on the weekends, too.
I just wish I could afford a GoreTex jacket

hey 36fan,

what Vasque do you wear. I have a set of newbriers and sojourns (sp?) I am going to get a pair of the Sundowner GSX for this summer. They are the best hiking boots, and wear excellent. I have used them with my 70lb pack for many day's. Did you know that Red Wing shoe company is the owner of the brand?

My last two pairs of hiking boots were Vasques with Gore Tex. Excellent performance! I wear Red Wing work boots with goretex for work. My current pair is almost 3 years old and they still keep my feet perfectly dry - and I'm a water resources engineer / scientist! I won't be changing brands anytime soon! Oh, and I love my Gore Tex jacket - good stuff!

Another vote for how very excellant the Vasque Sundowners are. I wear them hunting when it is warm. I go to Rocky Cornstalkers when it is cold. They are excellant boots also. I'm on my second pair of both boots and someday I know I will get my third.

I've also had great luck with Gore-Tex pants, but I have gotten damp shoulders from my Gore-Tex jacket. Maybe I need a new one.

BOB

I just got a new pair of Shadow GTX. I've had a couple of pairs of the Clarion GTX. I actually swapped out my last pair of Clarions for the Shadows because the GoreTex started leaking - no hassles at all!
I'm considering getting my old pair of Clarions (which are 4 yrs old) resoled. The soles have worn out in the front, and they still keep my fet dry.
Yeah, I knew they were made by Red Wing. I'm going to get a new pair of work boots soon, and you can bet they'll be Red wings! I'm a geologist/environemntal scientist, and I never know when I'm going to be sent out into the field, so I always were my Vasques to work!

hey guys,

another vote for the Sundowners. i have put many miles on these over the last 15 years, or so. all over the southeast and the west. took my new pair to the Grand Canyon last April for a week of hiking. have to be the most comfortable boots ever, even with a 50lb. + pack. i, also wouldn't trade anything for my gore-tex jacket. expensive, but worth every penny. see ya on the trail, Rich.

We ain't talkin' boots here! Went duck huntin' too many years ago(I'm an ole fart if you can't tell) and got soaked in a COLD rain. Went to a local sporting goods store later that day and bought a Columbia Widgeon Parka. Havent't been wet while hunting since! Best money I ever spent! GoreTex really is Great!

I too have Rocky Cornstalkers and they are by far the best boots I have had. I go ice fishing, hiking and hunting when I can. All that is needed is one pair of white cotton sweat socks regardless of how cold or wet it is. Gore Tex and Thinsulate. Thank God for 3M and Mr. Gore Tex!

socks...

While we're on the topic of footwear, Smartwool socks are the only socks that go into my Vasques. Any other Smartwool wearers?
