My Resignation

I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of an 8 year-old again.

I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four star restaurant.

I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and make a sidewalk with rocks.

I want to think M&Ms are better than money because you can eat them.

I want to lie under a big oak tree and run a lemonade stand with my friends on a hot summer's day.

I want to return to a time when life was simple; When all you knew were colors, multiplication tables, and nursery rhymes, but that didn't bother you, because you didn't know what you didn't know and you didn't care.

All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that should make you worried or upset.

I want to think the world is fair. That everyone is honest and good.

I want to believe that anything is possible. I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again.

I want to live simple again. I don't want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of paperwork, depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip, illness, and loss of loved ones.

I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, a kind word, truth, justice, peace, dreams, the imagination, mankind, and making angels in the snow.

So . . . here's my checkbook and my car-keys, my credit card bills and my 401K statements. I am officially resigning from adulthood.

And if you want to discuss this further, you'll have to catch me first, cause........ "Tag! You're it."

Wow now people in here are starting to act like bowtie owners.
Why doesn't you just trade your truck for a bowtie and get it over with. Then you can drive you 5 star truck to your 4 star restaurant.

ATST, nice reminder of all the things we've left behind.

I guess we should be envious of CanadianSCrew, he's still hanging on to one...

ATST, I hear you.
When we are young all we want to do is grow up. Then we "grow up" and realize that youth is very short.
We take a lot for granted when we are young.

We wouldn't know that without age though.

We wouldn't know the thrill of driving a pick-up truck down a drag strip (hundreds of miles away from home).

We wouldn't understand the pleasure of corresponding with "like minded (?)" people on the internet (day after day).

We wouldn't know of the joys, and follies, of sex (well now a days, kids aren't so innocent).

We wouldn't know what of the honor of being a parent (well I don't ,and wont, know that one).

We wouldn't know what it is like to really respect our, and be respected by our, parents.

We wouldn't know the gratification of being self supportive.

There is so much that sucks about being an adult. It sucks even more realizing that it will be this way for the rest of our lives (or untill we are too old to take care of ourselves).

Innocense, is a child. So is ignorance though. Like they say ignorance is bliss. This, I think, is why it's so fun being a child. Now we know better. We have more control of what happens to us.

Thank you for giving me a chance to sound like a kid, or an idiot. Sometimes I like to think I know something. In many ways (at 30) I am still a kid.

Just when I don't think I can handle another second as an adult, my Grandson wants me to watch SpongeBob with him. Helps to get me back to why I am an adult. And then he goes off to play with his friends and a half hour later, the wife says you can change the channel now!

Am I the only 'adult' that still sits at the kids table at Thanksgiving?

SpongeBob Squarepants rules!

Life is easy as a kid, but you don't get to pick all your own toys.

Now that's a scary thought!
You are much too young to aim so low.
I only want to emulated by other middle-aged losers like myself.
