Too much Weight.....

Here is a reason why not to trust the ice when you have a large amount of weight on it in once concentrated place. There was between 12 to 14 inches of ice on the lake...Which is more than enough to support a truck, but not this many.

MNFORD99, what lake is that? I just moved from MN to MO last year. Lived in MN for 16 years and never could get over people driving on the lakes.

That happened on Big Detroit Lake. It was reported that at its thickest it was about 12 to 13 inches, but at places it was only 6 inches thick. Twelve trailers and four heavy-duty pickup trucks went thru. Happend last weekend. Over a million dollars worth of damage, in all!

Pball

Thanks for that, Yeah, that is something. It really should have been fine for like I said like one or two of the trucks in a small area, but that many just put too much strain on the ice. We haven't gotten that cold here in Minnesota, as it is, this morning (1/9) it was 41 degrees when I woke up, and that average high for this time of the year is something like 22 degrees and the average low is like 5 degrees. What a screwy winter.

Yeah, I cant see why they all parked together like that. Iam sure that the ice cant support all of those trucks but they thought that all 6 or 7 of them would not be 2 much weight.

Like the wise man said:
"Life is hard, its harder when you are stupid!"
