Question Nikon digital camera on a Mac. HELP!

I just got one of these yesterday, and the software is impossible to decipher It says in the instructions that a welcome window will pop up when you put in the disc, but so far all I can get is the desktop icon. I found the only icon within that folder that said anything about installing the software, and all it seems to have is Acrobat reader 4.0, which my laptop already had installed anyway. I want to get the image database, and Nikon View 4 software installed, but I can only find the reference manual for installing them?? Anybody have a clue as to what I do next? I'm no computer expert, but have had no trouble with anything else I've installed on my laptop. Nikons website appears only to be a "Look how cool our products are!" site, with no real help. I emailed them, but of course they say allow 4 business days for a reply

Maybe I'm missing a disc??,,,,,,98

I suppose I could be a smartass and say, "lose the MAC," but that wouldn't be much help in the short run. I have to laugh at all these folks who continue to maintain the MAC is so freakin' perfect.

Anyway, I have the same appl for my Nikon 995 on a PC. Try hooking up the camera to the PC with the USB cable and see if the Nikon app starts up then. That's how it works on my PC; The app must "see" the camera storage device and then the pics on the card. Then the app starts and you can manage the pics.

Wink

Gee, thanks for your opinion on Macs, I guess that's another brand of my electronic equipment that I cannot mention in public forums. It works fine for me and I've had no virus trouble in the 2 1/2 years I've owned it. Thanks for the help, I think.
I read on the Digital Camera resource page that it's only compatible with Mac OS-X or higher. I have found that it loads the pics into a folder anyway, and from there I can import them to Adobe Photodeluxe or Photoshop to do with them what I see fit. So in a way, it works. Just not in the flashy way they wanted it to, lol! It might take a little extra time, but I do have lots of that lately,,,,,98

I have a Nikon digital camera, but no experience with a Mac. The download from the camera is a bit cumbersome even on a PC. You may want to look at a CompactFlash card reader. It should speed up download time and provide better download software.
