Guys who own guns - help
puff all you handgun people.
Get a Real gun.
M1 Garand
I've got 2
I'm looking for a M1 NationMatch rifle. Just turns out they are impossible to find.
For a handgun though, you might want to go with a 9mm. I really like mine and there isn't a lot of recoil so you won't develope a flinch. After shooting my .45 for awhile the recoil starts to get to you.
Since I am into target shooting I can tell you to start with an Airgun. A real gun is bad to start with if you are going for accuracy.
Get yourself an airgun. Why? Because if you start out shooting with a large caliber weapon you will develope a flinch. I started shooting with an airgun and I think it really helped. If you can shoot well with a light weight gun, then a heavy gun will be easier to control.
You might also want to consider getting a .22 It's not big and you can skip the airgun part because there really isn't any recoil on them. The main reason is is the rounds are very cheap. You can get a brick (500 rounds) for about $10. For the .45 you'll probably be paying $12+ for 50 rounds.
Not sure if you are really into target shooting because you said you didn't want a wussy gun. Since you are only 15 you might be wanting to get a gun just to own a gun. If you want that I suggest getting a 12 guage. Skeet is fun as hell and when you want to show how "Buff" you are you can go get some 00 buckshot. Little bit more recoil than a .45
